Five days off for the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday in 2026 (Year of the Horse).

Officials, civil servants, and employees of administrative agencies, public service organizations, political organizations, and socio-political organizations will have 5 days off for the Lunar New Year in 2026, combined with 4 consecutive weekend days (2 days before and 2 days after), for a total of 9 consecutive days off.

The People's Committee of An Giang province has just announced the Lunar New Year holiday schedule and the National Day holiday schedule for 2026.

Accordingly, officials, civil servants, and employees of administrative agencies, public service organizations, political organizations, and socio-political organizations will have a 5-day Lunar New Year holiday in 2026, from Monday, February 16, 2026 (the 29th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Snake) to Friday, February 20, 2026 (the 4th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Horse).

Public employees will have two days off for the 2026 National Day holiday, as stipulated: September 2nd, 2026, and the day immediately preceding, September 1st, 2026. The working day will be swapped from Monday, August 31st, 2026, to the weekly day off on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026 (Monday, August 31st, 2026, is off, and work will be compensated on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026).

Agencies and units that do not follow a fixed Saturday and Sunday weekly holiday schedule will base their holiday arrangements on their specific programs and plans, in accordance with the law.

For employees not falling under the above categories (officials, civil servants, and employees of administrative agencies, public service organizations, political organizations, and socio-political organizations), the decision on the Lunar New Year and National Day holiday schedule for 2026 will be as follows: For the Lunar New Year, choose to take 1 day off at the end of the Year of the Snake and 4 days off at the beginning of the Year of the Horse, or 2 days off at the end of the Year of the Snake and 3 days off at the beginning of the Year of the Horse, or 3 days off at the end of the Year of the Snake and 2 days off at the beginning of the Year of the Horse; for National Day, take Wednesday, September 2nd, 2026, and choose to take one of 2 days off: September 1st, 2026 or September 3rd, 2026. The Lunar New Year and National Day holiday schedule for 2026 must be announced to employees at least 30 days before implementation.

If the weekly day off coincides with a public holiday as stipulated in Clause 1, Article 112 of the Labor Code, the employee is entitled to a compensatory day off on the next working day as stipulated in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.

Employers are encouraged to apply the same Lunar New Year and National Day holiday schedules for employees in 2026 as those for civil servants and public employees, and to encourage agreements that are more beneficial to employees.

During the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays, directors (heads) of departments, agencies, and units shall arrange on-call duty and organize working departments appropriately to ensure continuous work, good service to organizations and the public, and other related tasks and urgent duties,...

Police, military , border guard units, and hospitals must ensure they have the necessary personnel and resources to effectively carry out their regular duties and when required.

Departments, sectors, and localities should develop specific and appropriate plans and measures to encourage units, businesses, organizations, and individuals to actively and proactively implement measures to develop production and business, economic and social activities, ensure the supply of goods and services, stabilize prices and markets, and contribute to promoting economic growth, practicing thrift, and combating waste before, during, and after the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2026.

Government offices, armed forces barracks, medical facilities, schools, religious institutions, businesses, and households throughout the province shall fly the national flag during the Lunar New Year from 6:00 AM on February 16, 2026 (the 29th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Snake) until the end of February 20, 2026 (the 4th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Horse). During the National Day celebrations, the national flag shall be flown from September 1, 2026 to the end of September 2, 2026.

The chairpersons of the People's Committees of communes, wards, and special zones; and the directors (heads) of departments, agencies, and units are tasked with inspecting and reminding residents to display the national flag in their respective areas and units under their management; organizing street cleaning and decoration within their areas of responsibility; reminding households to maintain environmental hygiene around their residences; and replacing old, faded flags with new ones to enhance urban aesthetics. They are also responsible for arranging security, order, and safety on holidays to ensure the safety of agencies, units, and public recreational areas; and ensuring compliance with regulations on disease prevention and control.
