After nearly five years of construction (commencing in January 2021), Long Thanh International Airport (Long Thanh commune, Dong Nai province) is ready to welcome its first flight.
Long Thanh Airport has completed the construction of phase 1: 1 runway, 1 passenger terminal, and other supporting facilities.

Long Thanh Airport covers an area of 5,000 hectares (located in Long Thanh commune, Dong Nai province), with a total investment of 336,630 billion VND, divided into 3 phases.
Phase 1 (2020 - 2025) involves the construction of an air traffic control station, one runway (4,000 x 75 m), one passenger terminal with a capacity of 25 million passengers/year and 1.2 million tons of cargo/year, along with supporting facilities.
Phase 2 (2025 - 2035) will add one runway and one terminal , increasing capacity to 50 million passengers per year.
Phase 3 (after 2035) will complete the entire airport with 4 runways and 4 terminals, reaching a capacity of 100 million passengers per year and 5 million tons of cargo per year.

After welcoming its first flight on December 19th, the airport will continue to complete the remaining work, striving to put it into operation in 2026.
VATM is ready for its first test flight at Long Thanh Airport. To date, the technical system is 100% complete, flight procedures are optimized, and personnel meet international standards.

The radar station at Long Thanh Airport has been completed. With its long scanning range, high accuracy, and superior anti-jamming capabilities, this radar system is considered a "divine eye" that helps detect and track multiple flying targets simultaneously in the southern airspace, especially in the area around Long Thanh Airport, which is expected to have the highest flight density in the country in the near future.

ACV is using water trucks to clean the runway to ensure safe landings for aircraft. Technical flights are expected to begin on December 15th. The aircraft used will be Boeing 787s and Airbus A350s, departing from Tan Son Nhat Airport to Long Thanh Airport, and then returning to Tan Son Nhat. The estimated flight time is approximately 40 minutes. On December 19th, the inauguration ceremony will take place, with aircraft expected to depart from Noi Bai Airport and fly to Long Thanh Airport.

Inside Long Thanh Airport terminal, thousands of engineers and workers are urgently installing technical equipment and completing the interior space. Long Thanh Airport is expected to officially begin operations in 2026.

Long Thanh Airport has been chosen as the central location for the inauguration and groundbreaking ceremonies of large-scale projects and constructions, significant to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, taking place on December 19th. It is expected that after landing, delegates will enter completed jet bridges to attend the ceremony held below.
