The chain of bakeries suspected of causing food poisoning in Quang Ngai has temporarily suspended operations.

On December 14th, the Quang Ngai Provincial Department of Health ordered the temporary suspension of operations at all HV bread shops to investigate the cause of the food poisoning incident that hospitalized 50 people.

According to a report from the Provincial Department of Health , on December 13th and 14th, Phuc Hung Private General Hospital, Quang Ngai General Hospital, and the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital received several cases of suspected food poisoning from eating bread at HV bread stalls.

According to the patients' statements, between 3 PM on December 11th and 8 AM on December 13th, they purchased and consumed sandwiches from HV sandwich stalls in Nghia Lo ward, Cam Thanh ward, and several other HV sandwich vendors.

By 5 PM on December 11th, the first patient exhibited symptoms: abdominal pain, frequent diarrhea, vomiting, high fever, and headache. Subsequently, the remaining patients also experienced similar symptoms and sought emergency treatment at Phuc Hung Private General Hospital, Quang Ngai General Hospital, and the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.

As of 10:00 AM on December 14th, the total number of patients hospitalized for treatment was 50.

The patients are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

Upon receiving the information, the Department of Health directed the Quang Ngai Provincial Food Safety Sub-Department to coordinate with the Quang Ngai Provincial Center for Disease Control, Phuc Hung Private General Hospital, Quang Ngai General Hospital, the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, the Quang Ngai Health Center, and other relevant units to investigate the incident.

The People's Committee of Cam Thanh Ward, in coordination with relevant agencies, inspected the HV bread production facility on Nguyen Nghiem Street, Cam Thanh Ward, Quang Ngai Province, and other bread selling points in Cam Thanh and Nghia Lo wards.

The HV bread stall has been temporarily closed to facilitate inspection and investigation into the cause.

To date, the Quang Ngai Provincial Center for Disease Control has collected 17 food samples from various stalls and 6 patient samples for testing to determine the cause of the food poisoning.

Following a surge in suspected food poisoning cases, the Quang Ngai Provincial Department of Health has directed the temporary suspension of operations at all HV bread shops to facilitate inspections and investigations into the cause.
