On the evening of December 13th, Phuc Hung General Hospital in Quang Ngai reported that it had admitted a total of 20 patients suspected of food poisoning after eating bread.
All patients reported having eaten bread purchased from the HV bakery in the area.
Due to a series of hospitalizations after people ate bread at HV bakery, the hospital submitted a report to the Department of Health that same afternoon.
The Deputy Director of the Quang Ngai Department of Health, Mr. Do Ngoc Hoa, confirmed that they have received reports of several cases of hospitalization suspected to be due to food poisoning after eating bread.
According to Mr. Hoa, Phuc Hung General Hospital had previously reported that from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM on December 13th, they received and treated 15 cases with symptoms of fever, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, etc., after eating bread bearing the HV brand.
Among these, 7 patients required emergency hospitalization, including 1 case in the pediatrics department and 6 cases in the internal medicine department. The patients live scattered across various communes and wards in Quang Ngai province such as Nghia Lo, Khanh Cuong, Nghia Giang, Cam Thanh, etc.
Mr. Hoa added that, as of now, apart from Phuc Hung General Hospital, the department has not recorded any other medical facilities reporting similar suspected cases of food poisoning.

Currently, the Provincial Department of Health, in coordination with the Food Safety Sub-Department and other relevant agencies, is cordoning off and sealing samples of the food suspected of causing the poisoning for testing.
"Because the HV bread brand has many branches throughout the province, it has not yet been determined which branch the patient ate the bread at. The health sector is focusing on tracing the food source and prioritizing treatment for severe cases," Mr. Hoa informed.
As of 7:30 PM tonight, according to Tuoi Tre Online, the 20th patient has been admitted to Phuc Hung Hospital and reported having eaten HV bread. Thus, at this time, 20 patients have been admitted to Phuc Hung Hospital suspected of food poisoning after eating HV bread.
Ms. YT stated that she bought bread at HV shop on the morning of December 12th and ate it around 9 AM that same day. By the afternoon of December 12th, she experienced severe abdominal pain but thought it was just a common stomach ache. This morning, her condition worsened, with vomiting, diarrhea, and intense abdominal pain.
"I couldn't bear the fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and intermittent abdominal pain, so I went to the hospital. I felt completely exhausted," Ms. T said.
