On December 14th, Quang Binh Friendship Hospital announced that it had recently admitted and treated a child who had sustained multiple injuries from a wild monkey attack.
According to initial information, on the morning of December 13th, Le Quynh Nh. (born in 2018, residing in Nam Ba Don commune, Quang Tri province) was playing in her yard when a wild monkey suddenly attacked and bit her, causing serious injuries to her face and head.
According to the child's family, the monkey lived in the rocky area, frequently came down to the residential area to forage, and had previously attacked and injured four people.
Immediately after the incident, the family took Nh. to the local health station for initial first aid, which involved applying pressure to stop the bleeding from the wound. Due to the complex nature of the injury, the child was then transferred to the Surgery - Anesthesia and Resuscitation Department of Quang Binh Friendship Hospital for further treatment.
Upon examination, doctors noted that Nh. had a jagged wound on her right cheek, with a skin defect measuring approximately 2 x 3 cm, irregular edges, and surrounding bruising. Additionally, there were several wounds on her scalp, each measuring approximately 1 x 1 cm, that were bleeding.
Following a consultation, the doctors treated the wounds on the child's face and scalp; they also administered antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, and painkillers to prevent infection. The child was also given tetanus and rabies vaccinations according to the treatment protocol.
The child's health is now stable, and doctors and nurses are continuing to monitor, care for, and treat him/her.
