On the evening of December 14th, in Nghe An province, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee organized a gathering to express gratitude and honor outstanding individuals who have made contributions to the revolution.
The program is part of the "Returning to Uncle Ho's Homeland" journey in 2025 by a delegation of outstanding meritorious individuals from Ho Chi Minh City. Attending the program were Mr. Pham Van Tuyen, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Internal Affairs; and Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, Deputy Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council.
Representing Nghe An province was Mr. Le Van Linh, Deputy Director of the Department of Internal Affairs of Nghe An province.

Speaking at the gratitude gathering, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Internal Affairs Pham Van Tuyen affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City always remembers and cherishes the contributions of individuals who have rendered meritorious services in the city, those who have made many sacrifices and great contributions to the cause of national liberation and reunification.
According to Mr. Pham Van Tuyen, Ho Chi Minh City currently manages 385,000 files of people with meritorious services and their relatives, of which more than 45,200 are receiving monthly allowances, with a budget of over 131 billion VND per month.

Following the merger, Ho Chi Minh City reviewed all policies for people with meritorious service from the former localities, aiming to build and implement them uniformly throughout the city through resolutions and specific regulations. At the same time, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Internal Affairs continued to advise the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City on perfecting and promulgating policies to care for people with meritorious service to the revolution.
In preparation for the 2026 Lunar New Year, the Department has advised the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to organize numerous activities to care for the material, spiritual, and health well-being of policy beneficiaries, including those who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution, with a total estimated budget of over 2,300 billion VND. This demonstrates the profound concern of the Party Committee, government, and people of Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, the city continues to review, develop, and promulgate policies to ensure that the care for those who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution is increasingly improved, with a living standard equal to or higher than the average living standard of the people in their place of residence.

On behalf of nearly 80 delegates representing exemplary individuals who rendered meritorious services to the revolution in Ho Chi Minh City participating in the journey to the source, war invalid Nguyen Quoc Viet (Ben Thanh ward) expressed his emotion at the attention shown by the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and all levels and sectors of the city.
“Besides the task of socio -economic development, the city leaders have not forgotten to pay special attention to the 'gratitude and repayment' activities. Therefore, most of the beneficiaries of these policies now have improved living standards,” Mr. Nguyen Quoc Viet shared. He also affirmed that those who have made contributions to the city of Ho Chi Minh will always live exemplary lives, leading the way in all actions, and working together to build Ho Chi Minh City into a civilized, modern, and compassionate city.
* Earlier that morning, the delegation visited and laid flowers and offered incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs at the Dong Loc Crossroads National Special Historical Site ( Ha Tinh province).

Here, the delegation laid flowers and offered incense at the graves of the 10 heroic female youth volunteer martyrs who bravely sacrificed their lives at Dong Loc Crossroads.
Before the sacred spirits of the heroic martyrs, the delegation observed a moment of silence to express their boundless gratitude for the immense contributions of previous generations to the cause of national liberation and reunification.

The delegates also laid flowers at each grave of the 10 female youth volunteer martyrs who bravely fell while ensuring smooth traffic flow on the strategic supply route from North to South.

The Dong Loc Crossroads National Special Historical Site is located on the Ho Chi Minh Trail, xuyên through the Truong Son mountain range, in Dong Loc commune, Can Loc district, Ha Tinh province. It is a very important transportation hub. Notably, Dong Loc Crossroads is where 10 young female volunteer soldiers of Squad 4 (General Volunteer Youth Brigade 55 of Ha Tinh province) bravely sacrificed their lives on July 24, 1968, while on duty. They were very young, and none of them had yet married.
The heroic sacrifice of the young female volunteers has become a symbol of the immense dedication of millions of young people who "forgot themselves for the country," sacrificing their youth for the cause of national liberation and reunification.
