On the morning of December 14th, the "Returning to Heritage" cycling race, an expanded event for Quang Ninh province in 2025, took place at the Tran Dynasty historical site in Dong Trieu ward.

The organizers awarded team prizes to the outstanding teams that achieved high results in the men's middle school road race.

This is a significant sporting and cultural event, aimed at celebrating the official recognition of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son - Kiet Bac complex of historical sites and scenic spots as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The tournament, organized by the Quang Ninh Provincial Motorcycle and Bicycle Federation in coordination with the Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, brought together 412 athletes from 55 cycling clubs in 18 provinces and cities nationwide.

The cyclists competed in 20 events, including 10 individual and 10 team events, across two categories: road cycling and mountain biking.

The race route is nearly 40km long, starting from the Tran Dynasty historical site in Dong Trieu and ending at the Yen Tu National Special Historical Site.

This sporting journey traverses the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of the Truc Lam region, passing through landmarks associated with the Tran Dynasty and the history of Vietnamese Buddhism, such as: An Sinh Temple, Trung Tiet Pagoda, Tran Dynasty Royal Temple, the mausoleums of the Tran kings, Da Chong Mountain, Ho Thien Pagoda, Am Hoa Pagoda…

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Deputy Director of the Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Head of the Organizing Committee, emphasized: “The ‘Returning to Heritage’ cycling race conveys a profound message; each wheel rotation is a connection to heritage, expressing gratitude for the past and a movement towards a green, sustainable future.”

Along the winding mountain roads, athletes conquer the sacred space of Quynh Lam - Ngoa Van - Ho Thien - Yen Tu, where majestic nature blends with the spiritual depth of this Buddhist land.

This is a comprehensive challenge testing speed, endurance, and competitive spirit, while also opening up a journey to appreciate heritage values ​​through the movement of sport.

Through the race, the image of Yen Tu - Ngoa Van is promoted in the context of heritage links with Con Son - Kiet Bac, Vinh Nghiem, gradually affirming Quang Ninh as a destination that harmoniously combines culture, sports and tourism , rich in human values ​​and sustainability.

The event also became a community-building festival, where cycling clubs, locals, and tourists came together in a shared rhythm, spreading the spirit of sports training and building an active, healthy lifestyle.

At the end of the tournament, the organizing committee awarded prizes to individuals and teams who achieved outstanding results.

The race left its mark both in terms of professional results and spiritual value, as it was held on the occasion of the 717th anniversary of Emperor Tran Nhan Tong's passing into Nirvana, and also marked a new milestone for Vietnamese cultural heritage on the world heritage map.
