Landslides cause traffic jams on many routes

According to local authorities, Provincial Road 551, from Ky Phong Commune to Ky Trung Commune, collapsed at around 7:30 a.m. on October 13, causing hundreds of cubic meters of soil and rock to fall onto the road. The landslide made it impossible for vehicles to pass through this section of the road.

It is known that in recent days, heavy rains have caused many roads to be eroded, collapsed and deeply flooded in Ky Anh district. Currently, local authorities are actively mobilizing forces and means to clear rocks and soil; set up barriers and put up warning signs about the danger level in landslide and flooded areas.

Mr. Tran Duc Ba, Director of Ha Tinh Hydrometeorological Station, said that due to the influence of strong cold air combined with high altitude easterly winds, from now until October 15, Ha Tinh will experience a widespread heavy rain with total rainfall in mountainous areas ranging from 100 - 200mm, coastal plains from 150 - 300mm, and in some places over 350mm.

Heavy rain also caused some roads to be cut off.

After this heavy rain, from October 16 to 20, cold air will continue to strengthen, combined with the tropical convergence zone and high altitude easterly winds, so there is a possibility of another widespread heavy rain with very large amounts of rain.

Faced with the complicated developments of floods, on October 13, Mr. Vo Trong Hai - Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province issued an urgent telegram to respond to floods, requesting close monitoring of the developments of floods, and immediately deploying emergency response measures according to the "4 on-site" motto to ensure the safety of people's lives and limit damage caused by natural disasters.
