
The Hue City Civil Defense Command announced that forecasts for the afternoon and night of November 2nd indicate that water levels on the Perfume River at Kim Long and the Bo River at Phu Oc are expected to gradually rise to approximately level 3 of the alert.
Water levels on the Truoi River, O Lau River, and other rivers are fluctuating at high levels, causing flooding, flash floods, landslides, and mudslides.
Over the past 6 hours, very heavy and exceptionally heavy rain has fallen in the areas of Long Quang, Nam Dong, Khe Tre, Loc An, Phu Loc, Thuong Nhat communes, and upstream of Ta Trach reservoir; the total rainfall ranges from 200-300mm.
The forecast for the next 3 to 6 hours indicates rain will spread across the entire city of Hue; particularly heavy rain will continue in the aforementioned communes.
The influx of water into major rivers has caused their water levels to rise. The water level of the Huong River at Kim Long is 2.26m, 0.26m above alarm level 2. The water level of the Bo River at Phu Oc is 3.86m, 0.64m below alarm level 3.
On November 2nd, thousands of people from various forces including the army, police, youth union, and organizations in Hue city continued their urgent efforts to mitigate the consequences of the exceptionally heavy rains and floods that occurred in late October.
Priority forces are focusing on environmental sanitation in central areas, key transportation routes, healthcare facilities, schools, deeply flooded residential areas, and public infrastructure.
Authorities at all levels, organizations, associations, and philanthropists have been and continue to show concern and provide both material and spiritual support to people in areas affected by floods; promptly helping people overcome difficulties and gradually stabilize their lives.
