Muong E focuses on implementing environmental criteria.

Recognizing that defining the rural environment and landscape is one of the challenging criteria in implementing the new rural development program, Muong E commune has focused on investing in infrastructure to meet the required standards and strengthening propaganda to raise awareness among the people about protecting a green, clean, and beautiful environment.

After transitioning to a two-tiered local government model, the Party Committee and People's Committee of the commune continued to direct the villages to maintain the inclusion of environmental protection criteria in their regulations and customs for the people to implement. Simultaneously, they organized campaigns for general environmental sanitation in residential areas, office grounds, schools, and inter-village and intra-village roads; encouraged people to develop livestock farming in conjunction with environmental protection… They also directed mass organizations to intensify propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage people to collect and sort waste at the household level; and collect pesticide packaging waste.

Mr. Lo Anh Vien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Muong E commune, said: Currently, the commune has arranged about 100 collection bins placed on the edges of rice fields or on hillsides to collect used pesticide packaging; built nearly 50 mini incinerators and 30 waste burial pits in 26 villages. Aiming for green transformation in agricultural production associated with environmental protection, the commune has encouraged farmers to use biological pesticides instead of chemical ones. At the same time, it has encouraged 70% of households to build hygienic toilets and bathrooms.

Located along the Pha Din Pass, which experiences a growing volume of traffic and tourists , the commune has been promoting and guiding households along National Highway 6 to enhance environmental preservation, especially encouraging businesses to properly collect waste and maintain cleanliness in their business areas. Simultaneously, a waste collection contract has been signed with the Urban Environment and Services Joint Stock Company - Thuan Chau Branch to collect and process waste in villages along National Highway 6.

Mr. Va A Sua, Party Branch Secretary and Head of Ai Khom village, Muong E commune, shared: "The village is located near the tourist area of Pha Din Pass. Therefore, the Party Branch and the village management board have instructed Party members and people to strictly implement the village regulations and environmental protection rules, especially for households developing service businesses. In addition, the village has 40 hectares of coffee trees, and during the harvest season, households are advised to commit to not causing pollution during the preliminary processing of the coffee during production."

The internal village road in Chiềng Ve, Mường É commune, is clean and well-maintained.

Muong E commune currently has a total livestock population of over 11,000 head and nearly 45,000 poultry. Linking livestock development with environmental protection, the commune's People's Committee has propagated and encouraged households to avoid letting livestock roam freely, to practice enclosed livestock farming, to move livestock pens away from under houses, and to build pens far from residential areas. At the same time, they have advised medium and large-scale livestock farmers to build livestock waste treatment systems using biogas digesters. To date, the percentage of households in the commune with livestock pens has reached approximately 40%; many poultry farmers have used biological bedding to collect waste.

Ms. Lo Thi Dang, from Chieng Ve village, Muong E commune, said: "My family raises nearly 250 poultry. Following the village's regulations on environmental protection in livestock farming, I have used biological bedding. Waste is collected regularly and composted using biological preparations to make fertilizer for my coffee plants, which has significantly reduced production costs."

With the goal of achieving environmental standards by 2030, Muong E commune has been focusing on promoting awareness and encouraging people to collect and properly dispose of livestock waste. They are also strengthening control over the use of pesticides in agricultural production and coordinating with specialized agencies to guide people in using livestock waste as fertilizer for crops. This creates a closed loop in agricultural production, reducing production costs.

With the involvement of the commune's Party committee and government, along with the unanimous support of the people in implementing comprehensive measures, we believe that Muong E will achieve the environmental criteria as planned, contributing to the sustainable development of the commune.
