(CLO) US President Donald Trump has detailed the plan of the Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE), led by billionaire Elon Musk. Specifically, after investigating the Treasury Department and the Department of Education, this US anti-corruption and waste agency will also investigate the Department of Defense .
The US President announced the plan to Fox News' political anchor Bret Baier in an exclusive interview ahead of the Super Bowl. He also said that the billionaire businessman was a reliable ally in fulfilling his promise to cut bureaucracy.
"I'll soon tell him... go check the Department of Education . He'll see the same thing. Then I'll join the military. Check the military. We'll find billions, hundreds of billions of dollars in fraud and abuse, and the people elected me to that job."

Baier's interview with President Trump, which took place just hours before the Super Bowl LIX coin toss, focused on the changes the Trump administration has enacted since he took office last month and the first 100 days of his presidency.
Among those changes was the deployment of DOGE. Since January 20th, this unit has aimed to uncover wrongdoing by federal agencies by tracking where money is going. This nearly led to the closure of USAID, due to the discovery of numerous corruption and waste issues within the global American aid organization.
These moves have drawn outrage from some Democrats. Thirty Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives attempted to enter the Department of Education building in Washington on Friday morning to meet with Acting Education Secretary Denise L. Carter, but they were blocked by security forces.
President Trump and Republicans have supported closing the Department of Education, saying that states would handle education better. Trump said on Tuesday that if Linda McMahon, his choice for Secretary of Education, is confirmed, she should make an effort to "get herself out of the job."
"People want me to find out about 'wasteful spending'," Trump told Baier. "And I've gotten a lot of help from Elon Musk, he's really great."
