Tourists continued to flock to Washington, D.C., their phones busy taking pictures near the scene of the shooting that occurred on May 23rd. Some even stopped to curiously examine the bullet marks still visible on the windows of a nearby museum before continuing their sightseeing.

Sarin Joshi, a tourist from Cleveland, Ohio, shared: "We still decided to visit the White House. The atmosphere here feels so peaceful, as if yesterday's shooting never happened."

Sharing a similar relaxed attitude, Basak, a tourist from Istanbul, Türkiye, said: "This is our first time in America. The White House is the first place we want to visit because it's an unmissable symbol of the capital for any tourist."
On the morning of May 24th, security around the White House was significantly increased, even though many nearby buildings still bore the marks of the horrific shooting.


Security forces were reinforced and roads around the White House were tightly sealed off following the shooting.
The day before, suspect Nasire Best (21 years old, from Maryland) approached a security checkpoint and unexpectedly opened fire on Secret Service agents. The agents returned fire, and Best was seriously wounded and later died in the hospital. According to American media, this shocking incident occurred while President Donald Trump was at the White House presiding over negotiations on the Iran issue.
