In early December 2025, the Da Nang City Fine Arts Association organized the Da Nang Fine Arts Exhibition 2025, aiming to encourage the creative movement, honor the achievements of artistic labor, and introduce to the public new works by painters and sculptors in the area over the past year.
According to artist Than Trong Dung, Chairman of the City Fine Arts Association, this is the first major event after the merger of Da Nang and Quang Nam , bringing together 55 works by 52 artists. The works were selected according to strict criteria, showing that this year's creations are quite high-quality.
"Many themes of life are explored and clearly reflected by the artists. It's encouraging that the younger generation of artists is becoming a strong successor force, with many outstanding young artists whose works are highly appreciated," Mr. Dung shared.
From the perspective of someone with long-standing experience in the art of painting, artist Tran Huu Can believes that in the past, Da Nang's geographical area was small, resulting in a limited number of artists. After the merger, the number of artists increased, creating opportunities for mutual learning and skill improvement. This is a positive development that will give the city's fine arts a boost.
Meanwhile, sculptor Dinh Gia Thang, Chairman of the Art Council (Da Nang City Fine Arts Association), believes that the merger between the two forces of Quang Nam and Da Nang creates a high level of competition, but it is positive competition that creates momentum for development.
Looking at this year's works, it's clear that Da Nang's art scene is making a strong breakthrough, especially with many artists striving for creativity and gradually narrowing the gap with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. In the field of sculpture alone, Da Nang can be proud of its prominent position nationwide.

According to poet Nguyen Nho Khiem, Chairman of the Da Nang City Union of Literature and Arts Associations, the works at the Da Nang Fine Arts Exhibition 2025 reflect the perseverance and continuous innovation of the artists.
The main sources of inspiration range from memory, origins, and humanism to contemporary life, with the identity of Central Vietnam prominently displayed. In terms of form, the diversity of materials and the spirit of experimentation in various forms, from painting and graphic art to printmaking/engraving, mixed media, and sculpture, show that the creative scope of Da Nang's fine arts is expanding.
Expectations for a breakthrough in the art scene of Quang Nam province.
The improvements in the quality of artistic creation are seen as a positive sign for the long-term development of fine arts in Da Nang. Based on this foundation, many painters and sculptors hope that the artistic movement in the future will become more professional, with more workshops, creative camps, and professional seminars to enhance artists' capabilities.
Regarding the content of artistic creations, painter Tran Huu Can stated: "In this new era, each artist needs to elevate themselves, aiming for the common standard in the country and the region. This is a necessary step for the art scene in Da Nang to develop more strongly."
Looking at the breadth of artistic creation, painter Nguyen Tien Viet, a lecturer at Duy Tan University, assessed that the convergence of fine arts in Da Nang and Quang Nam into "one home" opens up great opportunities for young artists to learn from their predecessors. The blend of experience and youthful energy brings a new dimension to the fine arts movement in Da Nang.
“In the future, I expect Da Nang to have more youth exhibitions, group exhibitions, and community-based art spaces. With this new integration, I believe Da Nang's fine arts will flourish,” artist Viet expressed.
Sculptor Dinh Gia Thang believes that increasing the organization of professional activities, workshops, and seminars will help artists clearly identify their development direction and continue to make breakthroughs.
Poet Nguyen Nho Khiem hopes that Da Nang's art scene will gradually embrace a contemporary spirit, boldly experimenting with both materials and approaches to life.
"The important thing is that artists still place people at the center - people in memory, in livelihood, in the present; in peace - in aspiration. When that is achieved, Da Nang's fine arts will move closer to the goal of affirming its position in the national fine arts scene," Mr. Khiem emphasized.
