New year, new spirit

Việt NamViệt Nam02/01/2025

On the very first day of the new year, despite it being a public holiday, the atmosphere of work in many localities, units, businesses, and fields throughout the province remained vibrant, enthusiastic, and urgent. It seems that the more difficulties and challenges they face, the more businesses, workers, and farmers cherish the opportunities they have, and the more they strive and are determined to achieve their production and business goals from the very first moments of the new year 2025.

New year, new spirit.

Workers at Gemmy Wood Joint Stock Company (Tan Phu Industrial Cluster, Tan Son District) are competing to increase production and ensure order deadlines are met right at the beginning of the new year.

Seize opportunities, improve efficiency.

Looking back at the production and business activities of enterprises over the past year, it is evident that, despite facing numerous difficulties and challenges, thanks to effectively leveraging existing advantages, combined with incentive and support mechanisms and policies to attract investment, production activities in the province have maintained stability and achieved a relatively high growth rate. From the second half of 2024, many enterprises have made efforts to access markets and seek partners to create momentum for the new year.

Businesses in the province have proactively developed plans, clearly defined goals and production and business strategies, and accelerated implementation from the very beginning of the new year. Particular attention has been paid to digital transformation, technology investment, diversification of supply sources, and expansion of consumer markets. Many businesses have launched emulation campaigns among their staff and workers, boosting production from the start of the year, focusing on improving productivity and efficiency, promoting innovation and creativity in production, and enhancing skills and expertise while ensuring workplace safety.

In the industrial zones and clusters that serve as the "locomotives" of the province's industrial development, trucks carrying goods are bustling in and out, preparing for Tet (Lunar New Year) orders and welcoming the new year. Yakjin Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Thuy Van Industrial Park, Viet Tri City), specializing in garment exports, which started operating in 2024, is experiencing more positive developments than the previous year with many orders returning, ensuring employment for over 3,000 workers, with an average income of over 7 million VND per person per month.

Ms. Pham Thi Anh Ngoc, Chairwoman of the Company's Trade Union, stated: "To ensure employee loyalty, peace of mind in production, and contribution to the company's success, the company focuses on creating a professional working environment, caring for the well-being of employees, and launching emulation movements right from the beginning of the year. This helps employees increase productivity and efficiency, become more aware of their responsibilities, and participate in production emulation from the start of the new year, creating a favorable beginning, boosting the company's production, and improving the lives of employees."

In keeping with the spirit of labor and production emulation, businesses are paying special attention to creating enthusiasm and motivation for workers by promoting initiatives, improving technology, saving production costs, innovating management models, focusing on sustainable production and business, and strengthening digital transformation.

At Hoang Gia Joint Stock Company (Hanh Cu commune, Thanh Ba district), which specializes in producing construction bricks with a capacity of approximately 40 million bricks per year, Mr. Nguyen Cong Kien - Production Director of the company - said: “In the last days of 2024, we had to work overtime on the production lines to ensure the delivery schedule for our partners. Recently, the company has invested in technology, automated many processes, and introduced robots into production at many stages, thus improving productivity and product quality. To ensure the plan for 2025 is met, the company has developed a plan, implemented it specifically on a weekly and monthly basis, and increased production immediately to meet order deadlines, creating harmonious coordination between production departments. The company continues to implement technical solutions, introduce new technologies into production, gradually improve efficiency, enhance product design and quality, build trust with partners, and constantly seek new markets and orders.”

The bustling pace of production brings expectations of a year of continued economic growth. Not only in factories, but also in the fields and hills, farmers are starting the new year with enthusiasm, preparing for a successful harvest. New year, new spirit.

Members of the Tu Xa Safe Vegetable Production Cooperative (Tu Xa commune, Lam Thao district) cultivate green vegetables for the winter-spring crop, supplying the market during the traditional Lunar New Year.

Enthusiastically heading into the new season.

Across the province's fields, the atmosphere is bustling with people striving to complete the spring crop production within the optimal timeframe. The Department of Agriculture and local authorities are focusing on promoting and encouraging farmers to apply scientific and technological advancements in production, adopting mechanization in land preparation; closely monitoring water releases to inform people so they can proactively manage water, prepare land, and sow seeds; and intensifying efforts to disseminate information on seedling sowing times and seedling care during unfavorable weather conditions.

After irrigating her rice paddies, Ms. Nguyen Thi Van from Zone 3, Vo Lao Commune, Thanh Ba District, prepared to soak rice seedlings for planting in the coming days. Ms. Van shared: “According to the schedule announced by the commune's agricultural extension team, we will sow rice seedlings from January 5th to 15th. Therefore, my family has prepared sufficient rice seeds, bamboo mats, and plastic sheeting to help the seedlings grow well and prevent yield reductions.” Like Ms. Van's family, in the early days of the new year, farmers in districts and towns throughout the province are focusing on harvesting winter crops and preparing the land for spring planting according to the schedule directed by the Department of Agriculture.

According to the plan, this spring, the entire province will plant approximately 35,300 hectares of rice, including about 11,800 hectares of hybrid rice, 21,100 hectares of high-quality rice, and the remainder being other rice varieties. According to the issued schedule, the early spring rice crop (accounting for 2% of the total planting area) has already been sown and is being prepared for planting, mainly in low-lying fields. The late spring rice crop (accounting for 98% of the total area) will be divided into two phases: phase 1 (accounting for 46% of the total area) will have seedlings sown in the first week of January 2025, and phase 2 (accounting for 52% of the total area) will have seedlings sown from January 25th to February 5th, 2025.

Besides rice, the province also plans to plant approximately 5,600 hectares of corn and 4,800 hectares of various green vegetables during the spring season. To support production, the Phu Tho State-owned Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited has directed its irrigation enterprises to promptly sign contracts with local authorities; carry out repairs, maintenance, and upkeep of irrigation systems and machinery; clear canals; and prepare sufficient materials to draw water according to the water release schedule of hydropower plants, ensuring timely irrigation for farmers preparing their land.

At this time of year, farmers in the vegetable fields are focusing on tending to their rows of cauliflower, kohlrabi, cabbage, tomatoes, leafy vegetables, and herbs to ensure a timely supply for the market before and after Tet (Lunar New Year). In 2024, due to the impact of Typhoon No. 3 and its remnants, many concentrated vegetable-growing areas were affected, causing significant losses for vegetable growers. However, with diligence and hard work, the farmers quickly restored production to meet market demand.

Besides focusing on preparing the land for planting according to the seasonal schedule, localities are also organizing the clearing of undergrowth, digging holes, and preparing materials for early spring reforestation. Seedling nurseries have fully prepared various types of trees such as acacia, bodhi, and pine to supply to growers. In the aquaculture sector, most of the rice-fish farming areas have been harvested, and land is being prepared for planting. In specialized aquaculture areas, farmers are also proactively maintaining water levels to protect fish from the cold, preparing for harvest and supply to the market during the upcoming Tet holiday.

According to Mr. Tran Tu Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, to ensure the production plan, the Department has issued a document requesting localities to strengthen propaganda and guidance for farmers on caring for spring crops during their development stages, ensuring the best possible production results. At the same time, it requested the People's Committees of districts, cities, and towns to direct specialized agencies to closely monitor the planting progress, strengthen inspections, and keep abreast of pest and disease outbreaks, the risk of water shortages for crops, and livestock diseases in order to provide timely guidance and minimize losses to production. In addition, the Department also requested localities to quickly reorganize grassroots agricultural extension teams in newly merged communes to avoid production disruptions.

The vibrant and urgent spirit of labor and production, "getting into the rhythm" right from the beginning of the new year, is a positive sign, promising to create new achievements in production and contribute to the fulfillment of the set socio-economic development goals.
