13 year old boy drowned while learning to swim

Nghe An While learning to swim at the pool of Nguyen Truong To High School in Vinh City, 13-year-old Nguyen Trong Binh was discovered by his friends sinking to the bottom of the pool.

On the afternoon of August 24, the leader of the People's Committee of Ha Huy Tap ward said that he was asking the Board of Directors of Nguyen Truong To High School to report and clarify the cause of the incident.

At around 3pm on August 22, Binh, from Nghi Loc district, and some students went to the swimming pool of Nguyen Truong To High School, Ha Huy Tap ward, Vinh city to buy swimming lessons. After a while, when Binh was nowhere to be seen, people searched around and discovered the male student was sinking at the bottom of the pool. When they brought him to shore, he was unconscious.

Binh was taken to Nghe An General Hospital for emergency treatment in critical condition. At 6:30 p.m. the same day, the victim was transferred to Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital for further treatment, and died on the evening of August 23.

"The patient was resuscitated by the doctor, and 30 minutes later his circulation returned, but his prognosis was still very serious because too much water had entered his lungs. After a day of treatment, he passed away, the cause of which was drowning," said the leader of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.

The swimming pool at Nguyen Truong To High School opened to welcome students since May and has so far organized 6 swimming courses.

According to the school's Facebook advertisement, the pool uses European equipment, has a roof, and uses 100% tap water. The team of teachers and coaches have pedagogical skills and commit to parents that after the course, 100% of students will know how to swim.

Previously, on August 22, at the swimming pool of an international school in Duong Noi urban area, Ha Dong district, Hanoi , there was also a drowning incident that resulted in the death of a 9th grade male student. Authorities have temporarily detained teacher Tran Lam Thang, 24 years old, to investigate the act of Irresponsibility causing serious consequences.

Teacher Thang was accused of not supervising the swimming practice session, sitting in one place using his phone and not discovering the male student died at the bottom of the pool.
