According to the leaders of the Academy of Construction and Urban Management, after three years, the "Establishment of a Vietnam-Korea Cooperation Center on Smart Cities and Construction Technology" Project (VKC Project) has achieved many positive results, with 20 training courses on smart cities nationwide, contributing to improving the capacity for sustainable smart city development management in several localities and connecting technological solutions suitable to the practical development of Vietnamese cities.

Dr. Tran Huu Ha – Director of the Academy of Construction and Urban Management Officials, delivered a speech at the conference.

In addition, a pilot project for a smart urban master plan/plan will be implemented for the urban area jointly selected by both parties (An Van Duong A and B urban areas – Hue City); a 3D database for An Van Duong A and B urban areas – Hue City will be developed. The project has approached planning solutions integrated with smart technology and piloted its integration into the approved zoning plan for this urban area.

The results of the VKC Project have made practical and effective contributions to Vietnam in general and the Ministry of Construction in particular in implementing Project 950 "Sustainable Smart City Development in Vietnam giai đoạn 2018 - 2025 and orientation to 2030". The VKC Project has promoted research and training on smart cities and advanced construction technologies to contribute to the development of smart cities in Vietnam; gradually concretizing Vietnam's policies and guidelines in promoting the development of smart and sustainable cities by 2030.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh, Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Construction, emphasized that in the context of international integration, the Vietnamese Party and Government have proactively developed sustainable smart city development orientations, built green cities, responded to climate change, and applied information technology to modernize the country, reformed administration towards building a digital government, and participated in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Sustainable smart urban development is one of the key drivers towards achieving the goal of transforming Vietnam into a modern, high-income industrialized country by 2045.

Based on the results achieved, the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction and the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport are actively proposing to the two governments the implementation of the VKC Project Phase 2. The Vietnamese Ministry of Construction hopes to continue receiving support from the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to enhance the sustainable development of smart cities in Vietnam.
