Lieutenant Colonel Ho Thanh Thuy, Deputy Political Commissar of the 368th Artillery Brigade, said: “Implementing the ‘Army's Contribution to Building New Rural Areas’ movement and the ‘Skilled People's Mobilization’ emulation movement, from the production increase fund and other mobilized resources, the Brigade allocates tens of millions of dong each year to visit policy beneficiary families and poor households; providing livestock, animals, and plants to households in difficult circumstances. In addition, the Brigade regularly sends military medical officers to provide free health check-ups and medicine to policy beneficiary families, families in difficult circumstances, and single-parent households. As a result, the rate of children and the elderly suffering from digestive diseases, skin diseases, and malaria in the area has decreased significantly. With the efforts of the Brigade's officers and soldiers, we hope that the people will continue to join hands and contribute to the army so that Kbang becomes more developed, brighter, greener, cleaner, more beautiful, prosperous, and happier.”
Besides assisting the local community with cleaning up the environment and repairing public infrastructure, in recent times, officers and soldiers of the 368th Artillery Brigade have also intensified activities to help people develop their economy , improve livestock barns and septic systems, and donate seedlings, livestock, and fertilizers to families. Thanks to this support, many families in Kbang have achieved stable livelihoods and are gradually rising out of poverty.
Late in the afternoon, after returning from tending their cattle, Mr. and Mrs. Dinh Sat from Kroi village, Kbang commune, saw soldiers and local youth union members still busy clearing vegetation and filling potholes on the inter-village road. They quickly carried baskets of boiled potatoes and cassava to the edge of the village to offer to the officers, soldiers, and youth. Holding the soldier's hand, Mr. Dinh Sat excitedly shared: "Previously, due to unemployment and lack of capital for economic development, my family suffered from hunger year-round. Fortunately, the soldiers of Artillery Brigade 368 provided 5 million VND to buy fertilizer, seeds, pesticides, and an automatic sprayer to grow high-yield corn. After the first harvest, and deducting expenses, we had a little extra, so my wife and I decided to buy a calf to raise. Now, our herd of cattle has grown to 4, including 2 mother cows about to give birth. Although we are still classified as a poor household, thanks to the support and assistance of the soldiers, our lives have improved significantly."
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Nhi, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Kbang commune, after implementing the two-tiered local government system, Kbang commune has a much larger area and a much larger population than before. In addition, due to unfavorable soil conditions, difficult transportation, outdated customs and practices, and a lack of capital and land, the lives of many households in remote areas and ethnic minority communities still face many difficulties.
The "Sustainable Poverty Eradication" program implemented by the 368th Artillery Brigade is very practical and meaningful, contributing to supporting people's economic development, improving their material and spiritual lives, and creating motivation for poor and disadvantaged households to rise up and stabilize their lives. "The actions of the soldiers not only have material value but also deeply demonstrate the close bond between the military and the people, contributing to enhancing the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new era. The Party Committee and the government of Kbang commune sincerely thank the officers and soldiers of the 368th Artillery Brigade for their affection, responsibility, and heartfelt sharing with the locality and the people," said Comrade Nguyen Thi Thu Nhi.
