A statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense said that air defense units intercepted 148 drones, mainly concentrated in the central and southern regions of the country, between 8 PM and 11 PM on April 5 (local time).
In Crimea, the governor of the port city of Sevastopol said the city had suffered four drone attacks throughout the day. In the latest attack alone, seven drones were shot down.
Ukrainian drones attacked an oil depot at the Russian port of Novorossiysk.
In the Russian-controlled Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, Andrei Chertkov, the regional administrator, said that repair crews had restored electricity to the two major cities of Donetsk and Makiivka after Ukrainian attacks on energy infrastructure. Earlier, Chertkov had announced that "almost half a million households were without power." Repair work is still underway in the remaining areas without electricity.
In the Belgorod border region of Russia, a drone killed a civilian defense volunteer, a frequent target of the Ukrainian army.

The overnight attack also directly targeted facilities operated by Transneft at the port of Novorossiysk on the Black Sea coast. This is a crucial hub for processing more than half of Russia's crude oil exports through the Black Sea. Videos from the scene showed massive fires erupting in the port area, along with thick columns of black smoke, forcing all operations there to temporarily halt.
Additionally, the mayor of the port city of Novorossiysk, Andrei Kravchenko, confirmed that "drone debris struck a high-rise apartment building," although there is currently no specific information on the number of casualties at this location.
Widespread power outages have also been reported in Russian-controlled areas of the Zaporizhzhia region. Technical teams are currently working diligently to restore power supply to residents after the attacks severely impacted the area's electricity grid.
