The Thang Long Puppet Theatre delegation to Japan was led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Huong, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports , along with 21 members including managers, artists, actors, musicians, and technicians from the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and the Thang Long Puppet Theatre.
According to the plan, on May 29th, Thang Long Puppet Theatre will perform at Yoyogi Park. On May 30th and 31st, the artists will participate in performances at the opening ceremony and present a comprehensive art program, including water puppetry, at the festival's two stages.

The troupe's performance program is structured into two main parts: traditional water puppetry and a comprehensive art program. The water puppetry segment lasts 30 minutes and includes acts such as: Teu teaching tricks, Dragon dance, The boy tending buffalo and playing the flute, Planting, plowing, and scooping water, Catching frogs, Fishing, Children playing in the water, Phoenix dance, and Four mythical creatures dance.
These are typical performances of Vietnamese water puppetry, vividly recreating the working life, daily activities, beliefs, and folk imagination of the agricultural inhabitants of the Northern Delta region.
Besides water puppetry, the 50-minute comprehensive art program includes performances such as: "Hanoi , a Heart of Pink ," a folk music ensemble " Hanoi's Charm," "Hanoi, 12 Seasons of Flowers ," a Japanese music ensemble, the Xam folk song "Thang Long Soars," and the Chau Van singing and dancing performance "The Little Girl of the Upper Mountains."
The selection of these performances reflects an effort to showcase a Hanoi rich in identity: possessing both the lyrical beauty of its streets and flower seasons, and the depth of folk music, Xam, Chau Van, and traditional musical instruments.
In particular, the Japanese musical performance added a highlight to the cultural exchange, demonstrating respect for the local culture and a desire to engage in dialogue with the Japanese audience through the language of art.
First held in 2008, the Vietnam Festival in Japan has since become a major cultural exchange event between the two countries. It serves as a diverse forum for exchange in various fields such as culture, economics, tourism, and human resources, thereby contributing to deepening the relationship between Vietnam and Japan.
