On March 25, AVP reported that Russian armed forces attacked Stryi military airport in the Lviv region of Ukraine on the night of March 3. This airport is a place to prepare to receive US-made F-24 fighters. This Russian attack is part of a strategy to counter Ukraine's active preparations to put F-3s into use.
The types of missiles used by Russia in this attack are the Kh-101/555 cruise missile and the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal hypersonic missile as well as the Geran-2 suicide drone.
According to AVP, the attack caused Stryi airport to be temporarily disabled.
In addition to Stryi airport, other important Ukrainian military facilities in this area were also attacked by Russia, including: fuel and ammunition depots, a transit center for Western armored vehicles passing through the Ba Lan-Ukraine and energy infrastructure.
On the battlefield, the Russian army is actively moving towards Chasov Yar. According to AVP, units of the armed forces of the Russian Federation are actively entering the Chasov Yar settlement area. This was announced by the head of the Donetsk People's Republic (self-proclaimed) Denis Pushilin on Rossiya 24 television channel.
In this direction, the Russian armed forces have achieved positive successes, including liberating the village of Krasnoe and are rapidly advancing towards Chasov Yar. Taking control of Chasov Yar would set the stage for beginning the “cleaning” of Artemovsk, including demining and clearing debris, tasks that have so far been hampered by Ukrainian shelling.
Chasov Yar is an area with about 12 thousand people before the start of the special military operation, located just 7 km west of Artemovsk and is a key point in the current military situation. The capture of the city located on a hill with an altitude difference of up to 110 meters compared to Artemovsk gave a significant advantage to the forces controlling it. It will ensure control of the surrounding territories and create conditions for further attacks. This geographical location makes Chasov Yar a strategically important defense point for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian suicide planes destroyed Ukrainian military equipment.
