The TASS news agency has compiled key information about the recent joint Russia-Belarus nuclear exercises.
Russia and Belarus have conducted their first joint military exercises on the command and control of strategic and tactical nuclear forces, President Putin said.
The Russian head of state also announced the launch of ballistic and cruise missiles as part of the exercises. As before, the Nuclear Triangle (Russia's strategic nuclear deterrence system) must play a role in guaranteeing the sovereignty of the Russian Federation and Belarus, a tool for maintaining nuclear balance and the global balance of power – Putin emphasized.
Putin added: "The use of nuclear weapons is a special measure to ensure national security. Russia is acting according to plan and has no intention of engaging in an arms race. Continuing to improve the training level of nuclear forces and developing all their components is very important."
According to the Russian President, Russia's nuclear triad will remain at a level sufficient to meet requirements. Russia is doing well in developing its nuclear forces. Systematic and consistent exercises are necessary to enhance the security of Russia and Belarus, protecting them from threats from all directions. The forces of our Belarusian allies are demonstrating good coordination and are mastering the necessary skills.
Putin said that every minute and every second is crucial in the use of nuclear forces for defense. He announced that Russia would equip its Strategic Missile Forces with new missile systems, both fixed and mobile.

Meanwhile, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko emphasized: " Belarus and Russia pose no threat to anyone and are ready to defend our shared territory from Brest to Vladivostok. Russian generals stationed in Belarus are also pleased with the cooperation between the two countries."
According to the Belarusian president, the joint nuclear exercises with Russia went smoothly. Belarusian forces accurately hit their targets during the Iskander-M missile launches in the joint nuclear forces training with Russia.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that from May 19th to 21st, the Russian Armed Forces conducted exercises on the preparation and use of nuclear forces in the event of a threat of invasion. Within the framework of this joint nuclear exercise with Belarus, the Russian Armed Forces transferred ammunition and nuclear warheads to the staging areas of missile brigades in Belarus.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the exercise involved more than 64,000 servicemen, 200 missile launchers, over 140 aircraft, as well as 73 surface ships and 13 submarines, including 8 strategic missile submarines.
Meanwhile, the Press Service of the Belarusian Ministry of Defense reported that the country's military units have begun training in the use of nuclear weapons and nuclear support in combat, involving missile forces and aircraft. The Belarusian Ministry of Defense emphasized that the exercise is a planned training event, not aimed at third countries, and poses no threat to regional security.
