On the morning of April 30th, amidst the vibrant atmosphere celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country, from early morning, streets everywhere were filled with red flags with yellow stars, and the flow of people on the roads seemed to slow down. The people of Thu Dau Mot eagerly experienced every special and sacred moment of this important national holiday.
Mr. Nguyen Van Minh, a resident of Chanh Nghia ward (Thu Dau Mot city), said he woke up very early to exercise. This morning, instead of rushing home, he stopped by a corner cafe to read the newspaper, reminisce with friends about the country's historical milestones, and watch the live broadcast of the military parade on television.
Around the six-way intersection and the Traditional House of Thu Dau Mot City, groups of young women in traditional ao dai dresses and multi-generational families wearing matching outfits with the national flag emblem stood with radiant and proud faces. They were busy capturing the lively moments of this important holiday.
Ms. Lo Tat Binh, a retired teacher living in Phu Cuong ward, shared: "Today is a very special day. I woke up very early and put on an ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) with the national flag printed on it. I wanted to capture these happy moments and the overwhelming sense of national pride through these images."
Some young people said they were fortunate to be born in peacetime, enjoying the fruits of independence for which their ancestors sacrificed their lives. Therefore, they wanted to preserve these beautiful images of this important national day.
Mr. Huynh Van Tai, Chairman of the Aerobics and Folk Dance Club (Phu Hoa Ward, Thu Dau Mot City), believes that this year's grand ceremony was organized in a truly solemn and magnificent manner.
"Through television, newspapers, and social media, I've seen that the Vietnamese people are very patriotic and peace- loving. Thanks to this event, I've gained more historical knowledge, and thanks to this event, the spirit of unity among our people has become even stronger. Today, our club also organized cultural activities and quizzes with prizes on the theme of history," Mr. Tai added.
Meanwhile, some small traders in the markets were simultaneously selling their goods and holding their smartphones to keep up with the news about today's major holiday. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Anh and other traders were sipping tea while watching the live broadcast of the April 30th holiday on their phones.
Instead of going out to take photos and check in on the holiday, most families in Binh Duong stayed home to gather with their loved ones and watch the live broadcast of the 50th anniversary celebration of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country.
For many families, this is a special, emotional, and proud moment, when the family gathers together to reminisce about the country's historical events.
Ms. Nguyen Kim Khen (Phu Cuong ward, Thu Dau Mot city) and her husband were watching television with extreme concentration, not wanting to miss a single moment...
