In the vibrant atmosphere of this national election day, yesterday, March 15th, voters in An Giang enthusiastically went to the polls. From cities to rural areas, from border regions to densely populated residential areas, voters demonstrated a sense of responsibility and faith in their elected representatives.

The election was conducted seriously, orderly, and safely.

Early in the morning, voters in Rach Gia ward enthusiastically flocked to polling stations to participate in the election of representatives to the 16th National Assembly and representatives to the People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. National flags, banners, and slogans were prominently displayed at the polling areas, creating a vibrant and joyful atmosphere from the very beginning of the morning. As the most populous ward in the country, Rach Gia has 186,476 voters and 124 polling stations.

At polling station No. 15 in Rach Giong neighborhood, election organization was meticulously carried out. Polling station members diligently performed their assigned duties, from checking voter cards and verifying information to distributing ballots and guiding voters through the voting process. The polling station was set up separately, ensuring democratic and objective principles. Ms. Le Huong Phung, Head of the Rach Giong Neighborhood Front Committee and head of polling station No. 15, stated that the station has a total of 1,837 voters. Prior to election day, the station also conducted rehearsals to ensure smooth execution of all procedures and to proactively handle any potential situations.

At polling station number 35, located in residential area 5, Ly Nhan Tong Street, Rach Gia Ward, a large number of voters arrived early in the morning to cast their ballots. This polling station has 740 voters from 8 self-governing residential groups in residential area 5. After checking their voter cards, each person received their ballot and reviewed the list of candidates before exercising their right to vote. Mr. Huynh Thanh Hung, residing at 20 Nguyen Huu Cau Street, Rach Gia Ward, said he arrived at the polling station early to fulfill his civic rights and duties. "I hope that the National Assembly representatives and People's Council representatives in the next term will uphold their role as representatives of the people, contributing their wisdom to building policies that ensure social security and improve the lives of the people," Mr. Hung shared.

In Chau Doc ward, from 6 a.m., many voters in Hamlet 5 had already arrived at the polling station. Mr. Lam Quang Diem, a voter of the Hoa ethnic group residing in Hamlet 5, expressed: “I am eagerly awaiting the moment to cast my ballot to elect worthy representatives for the voice of the people. Looking at the list of candidates, I believe these are capable and experienced individuals who will make positive contributions to the development of the locality.”

Given the large Chinese population in the area, the election atmosphere in Hamlet 5 was one of unity and enthusiasm. Mr. Thai Quoc Vinh, Head of Hamlet 5 and Head of Polling Station No. 10, stated that preparations were carried out meticulously. Security forces were deployed from the outer perimeter to ensure order and guide residents in following the correct voting procedures.

In Vinh Te ward, polling stations also operated in an orderly manner and in accordance with regulations. According to Trang Cong Cuong, Secretary of the Vinh Te Ward Party Committee, all polling stations were fully staffed with police, militia, and local security forces to ensure safety and support voters during the voting process.

In the upstream areas of the Tien River, the atmosphere on election day was also vibrant. In Chau Phong commune, where a large Cham community lives, election day held special significance as it coincided with the month of Ramadan. Early in the morning, after attending prayers at the mosque, many Cham Muslims went to polling station number 9 to exercise their civic rights. Ms. Sa Roh, a Cham Muslim voter from Chau Phong commune, shared: “I am very excited to be able to vote in person. This is not only a right but also a responsibility of every citizen. I hope that the elected representatives will represent the will and aspirations of the people, contributing to the development of our homeland.”

Chau Phong commune has 30 polling stations with 38,895 voters. According to reports, all polling stations operated seriously and orderly. Meanwhile, Tan Chau ward has 10 polling stations with 23,780 voters. Organizational preparations were thorough, from posting voter lists and candidate biographies to deploying personnel to guide voters. Vinh Xuong commune has 23 polling stations with 27,328 voters. At these stations, voters arrived early, completing all steps of receiving, filling out, and casting their ballots in a serious and orderly manner.

Affirming responsibility, spreading trust.

With the meticulous preparation of the local authorities, the sense of responsibility of the people contributed to creating an atmosphere of excitement for this great national event. At polling station No. 23, Can Vam A hamlet, Vinh Hoa commune, many voters arrived at the polling station early in the morning. Nguyen Thi Nho, a first-time voter, expressed: “I feel very proud. This is the responsibility of a citizen to choose worthy representatives to voice the people.”

Voter Danh Xa (75 years old), residing in Can Vam A hamlet, said he always participates fully in elections. "I hope to elect representatives who are truly close to the people, understand the people, and care more about the lives of people in rural areas," Mr. Xa said.

Polling station No. 23 has 1,149 voters. According to Ms. Thi Giau, head of polling station No. 23, preparations have been underway for several days. The list and brief biographies of the candidates are publicly posted for voters to easily follow and learn about.

In My Thoi ward, many voters also took advantage of the opportunity to arrive at the polling station early. Among them was Mr. Vo Phuoc Tri, residing in Dong Thanh B hamlet. For over 15 years, he has voluntarily lent his house to the local authorities to be used as a polling station during each election. Not only did he provide the location, but Mr. Tri also prepared drinking water and food to support the election officials. “My house is spacious and convenient for people to come and vote, so I readily lent it. Seeing so many people participating makes me very happy,” Mr. Tri shared.

From 7:00 AM on March 15th, voters at polling station number 20, located at Dong Yen 2 Primary School, Nga Cay hamlet, An Bien commune, began casting their ballots. With a total of 1,250 voters, by 11:30 AM the same day, the voter turnout reached 93%, demonstrating the sense of responsibility and concern of the people for this important national event. Mr. Nguyen Van Qui (84 years old), residing in Nga Cay hamlet, has difficulty walking due to weak legs after a serious illness. The election committee brought an additional ballot box to his home so he could exercise his civic right. “I’ve been eagerly waiting to vote all morning, but my legs are too weak. Luckily, the officials from the hamlet brought the ballot box to my house. I’m so happy to be able to contribute to choosing someone with sufficient virtue and talent to represent the people,” Mr. Qui said.

In Dong An 2 hamlet, Long Xuyen ward, the election process was also carried out seriously. Mr. Chau Tuan Sang - Secretary of the Party Branch and Head of Polling Station No. 39, said that preparations had been underway since the beginning of 2026. According to Mr. Sang, voters in the area participated very actively in the election with the desire to choose truly outstanding representatives who are responsible to the people and contribute many practical solutions to the development of the locality.

The atmosphere of enthusiasm, unity, and solemnity at the polling stations reflects the people's consensus in participating in building an increasingly strong government apparatus and their aspiration for the development of An Giang province in the new era.
