On November 5th, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang, Member of the Political Bureau, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy, and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, attended the National Unity Day celebration at Residential Area 11, Kim Long Ward, Hue City (Thua Thien Hue Province) to commemorate the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam National United Front (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2024).

Also attending were leaders from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Thua Thien Hue province, Hue city, as well as local authorities and people.

The source of Vietnam's strength

Residential Area 11 is located along the main Kim Long road, a tourist route along the Perfume River leading to historical sites in the western part of Hue city. The area comprises 375 households and 1,550 residents. The residents' economic life is primarily based on small-scale business and trade, with a few households engaged in traditional crafts. Currently, the Perfume River overpass project and the Nguyen Hoang Ring Road 3 project are underway in the area. The National Unity Day was held to commemorate the 94th anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Traditional Day (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2024). At the event, residents reviewed the glorious history and traditions of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and assessed one year of implementing the "National Unity for Building New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas" campaign.

The National Unity Day was held on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2024). At the event, people together reviewed the glorious history and traditions of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and assessed one year of implementing the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas".

Ms. Che Thi Thanh Quyen, Head of the Front Committee of Residential Area 11, said that in recent years, the people in the residential area have united to participate in economic development, actively helping each other to reduce poverty sustainably, improve living standards, and encourage legitimate wealth creation. They have promoted the spirit of solidarity and neighborly love, helping each other in times of hardship and difficulty, and working together to build a happy life. Through this, they have contributed to building and strengthening the great national unity, building a strong Party, and building a strong local government…

In particular, before attending the festival, the Politburo member and Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics offered incense at Kim Long village communal house – a famous cultural site in Hue city. “This is the origin of culture and tradition, starting from the community, from hamlets, villages, and residential areas, expanding to the entire province and even the whole country. This is also the source of Vietnam's strength, an extremely precious tradition of the nation and the Party. The strength of the people, the strength of the great unity, has existed since ancient times, contributing to the glorious history of nation-building and national defense. Because we are building a regime where the people are the center, the subject, the source, the resource, and the intrinsic driving force for the country's development,” Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang shared.

Speaking about national unity, the Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy stated: "During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh clearly stated: 'Thanks to the strength of national unity, the revolution succeeds; thanks to the strength of national unity, the resistance will be victorious. National unity is an invincible force.' President Ho Chi Minh's thought on national unity has become a precious cultural and political value of Vietnam in the new era."

To achieve the country's important goals in the new era, the Party, in its leadership, will certainly continue to inspire the aspiration for a prosperous and happy nation, fostering the will and strength of national unity combined with the power of the new era. Each locality needs to strengthen internal unity among its people to achieve consensus between the Party's will and the people's aspirations in carrying out political tasks and socio-economic development in the locality, contributing to the overall achievements of the country.

The Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy stated that, in the coming period, when the National Assembly issues a resolution establishing a centrally-governed city, it will present both many challenges and great opportunities for Thua Thien Hue. On the one hand, it will affirm the achievements the province has made in recent years; on the other hand, it will position Hue within the country's development, unlocking the province's potential and strengths.

According to Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang, upon becoming a centrally-governed city, the task of building and developing Hue will first and foremost rely on the strength of the people. Simultaneously, the central government will allocate significant resources in the direction of "Hue for the whole country, the whole country for Hue," creating a mindset for us to act in the spirit of a centrally-governed city. There will also be additional programs and investment projects to address both conservation and development. People in residential areas, villages, and hamlets need to uphold cultural traditions and the spirit of mutual support and assistance in life. They should participate in building a healthy cultural environment; strengthen democracy in participating in the building of grassroots Party committees and governments; build strong communities in terms of security and order; prevent all types of crime and social evils; be vigilant against the "peaceful evolution" schemes of hostile forces; and continue to effectively organize patriotic emulation movements and campaigns launched by Party committees, governments, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang suggested that Party committees, government agencies, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in the province should focus on promoting democracy and harnessing the strength of national unity in implementing the Party's Directives and Resolutions; continue to effectively implement the Resolution of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on "Innovating and improving the quality of the National Unity Day in the new period"; carry out the tasks of economic, cultural, and social development; and build a bloc of national unity. He also urged the effective implementation of the Resolutions of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Congresses at all levels and the Resolution of the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term 2024-2029.

The Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front presented 50 gift packages to policy beneficiary families, exemplary families, and poor and disadvantaged households.

For areas in Thua Thien Hue province affected by Typhoon No. 6 and floods, focus should be placed on restoring and developing production, helping people to stabilize their lives as soon as possible. Politburo member Nguyen Xuan Thang expressed his hope that the people would continue to uphold the glorious revolutionary tradition; promote the fine traditional cultural identity and the strength of national unity; maintain solidarity and unity; and strive together with the local Party committee and government to build a more developed Hue city.

On this occasion, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang presented 600 million VND from the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy to support Thua Thien Hue province in building "Great Solidarity" houses and recovering from the recent Typhoon No. 6. At the same time, the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Thua Thien Hue province, and Hue city also presented more than 60 gifts to policy beneficiary families, exemplary families, and poor and disadvantaged households in Kim Long ward and Hue city.
