Nghe An: Highlights of August 25th

* On the afternoon of August 25th, Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired the regular August 2023 meeting of the Provincial People's Committee. At the meeting, leaders of the Provincial People's Committee and departments focused on discussing the socio -economic situation; the implementation of the state budget for August; and key tasks and solutions for September 2023.

* On the morning of August 25th, the Provincial National Assembly Delegation held a working session with the Department of Finance and the Department of Construction as part of the thematic supervision plan on the implementation of Resolution No. 36 of the National Assembly on piloting some specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Nghe An province.

Taking into account the suggestions and feedback from the departments, the Provincial National Assembly Delegation requested the two departments to continue researching on a legal and practical basis to propose additional policies for the province to the Central Government; and at the same time, to coordinate with the Provincial National Assembly Delegation in the process of reviewing the resolution and proposing the issuance of a new resolution or the amendment and supplementation of the resolution.

* From August 22-25, the Department of Foreign Affairs - the standing agency of the Steering Committee for Border Affairs of Nghe An province - organized a training course on national border management and protection of the Vietnam-Laos border marker system in the province. 600 people from border communes: My Ly, Bac Ly (Ky Son); Tri Le, Thong Thu (Que Phong) participated in the training.

The conference provided people in border communes with practical knowledge and information on national border management and protection, safeguarding the Vietnam-Laos border marker system; preventing illegal migration; illegal marriages in border areas; ensuring security and order, preventing crime and social evils in border areas; and providing information and some measures on preventing human trafficking and illegal emigration for labor in Laos and other countries.

* The Vietfast shoe manufacturing and processing plant project, with a total investment of 30 million USD (equivalent to 690 billion VND) in Bac Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, is owned by a Taiwanese company and is currently undergoing site leveling work.

* On August 25th, Ban Ve Hydropower Company sent a notice to relevant authorities and units regarding the operation of water regulation through the spillway of the Ban Ve hydropower reservoir. It is expected that by 8:00 AM on August 26th, the water level of the Ban Ve hydropower reservoir will reach the highest pre-flood water level of 192.5m, at which point Ban Ve Hydropower Company will operate the reservoir to regulate water through the spillway.

According to sources from the Quy Chau District Police, on August 24th, during the arrest and struggle with a drug trafficker as part of a special operation by the Quy Chau District Police Investigation Agency, Major Mong Van Tan, an officer of the Chau Nga Commune Police, Quy Chau District, was injured. Specifically, during the pursuit, the suspect Vi Van Tuong (HIV-infected), residing in Na Pua village, Chau Nga commune, acted recklessly and used a homemade sword to resist arrest and attempt to escape, causing injuries to his right hand.
