For the spring crop of 2024, Nghi Xuan district ( Ha Tinh province) directed localities to sow rice seedlings within the timeframe from January 5th to February 8th.

In the spring crop season of 2023, the entire district planted 3,205 hectares of rice, reaching 101% of the plan, with a yield of 55.33 quintals/hectare; the total production reached over 17,700 tons, the highest ever.
For the 2024 spring crop, the district will base its seedling planting schedule on the growth time of each rice variety, within the timeframe of January 5th to February 8th, 2024. It is also recommended that 100% of the seedling area be covered with plastic sheeting using the correct techniques to minimize damage caused by severe cold weather.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Co Dam commune, Le Thanh Binh, stated: For the spring crop of 2024, it is necessary to focus on directing the implementation of land conversion, consolidation of plots, and removal of small field boundaries to reorganize the fields, forming large plots and large fields.
The entire district aims to achieve a food production of 33,718 tons in the 2024 spring crop. Accordingly, 3,204 hectares of rice will be planted, with an expected yield of 49.09 quintals/hectare; other dryland crops include: 1,300 hectares of peanuts, with an estimated yield of 3,780 tons; 602 hectares of corn, with an estimated yield of 3,377 tons; 500 hectares of sweet potatoes, with an estimated yield of 5,060 tons; and 500 hectares of vegetables and legumes, with an estimated yield of 3,774 tons.
In addition, 80 hectares of watermelon, with a yield of 25 tons/ha and a total production of 2,000 tons, are concentrated in the communes of Xuan Hong, Xuan My, Co Dam, and Xuan Thanh.
Focus on developing single-crop field models, applying synchronized intensive farming solutions on land where small field boundaries have been broken down into larger plots in Xuan Hong, Xuan Lam, Co Dam, Xuan Lien, Xuan Linh, Cuong Gian, Xuan Vien, and Xuan My communes; expanding the new peanut variety in Xuan My commune according to the agricultural extension program of the North Central Institute of Science and Technology; and expanding the scale of the Xuan Hong red melon model that has achieved VietGap standards...
Deputy Chairman of Nghi Xuan District People's Committee Nguyen Viet Hung emphasized: Local authorities must assign specific responsibilities in leadership and production management to each member, regularly monitor villages and hamlets to direct production to meet planned targets, and handle any issues arising during the production process.
To achieve the above objectives, the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will continue to advise the District People's Committee on the effective implementation of programs, projects, mechanisms, policies, and legal regulations in the field of crop production.
Communes and towns are strengthening leadership and guidance to ensure that spring crop production is carried out according to the seasonal schedule, with the correct crop varieties, and with proper technical procedures for investment and care; timely pest and disease control; and the implementation of effective concentrated production models, gradually forming linkages with businesses in the production process...
Propaganda and mobilization efforts should focus on implementing the land consolidation project, building large-scale and model fields linked to product consumption.
