(To Quoc) - On the afternoon of July 22, the Hanoi People's Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 07/CD-UBND regarding the suspension of entertainment activities during the days of national mourning for General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong.
In accordance with the special communiqué of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and the Announcement of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam regarding the organization of the State Funeral for Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and based on Government Decree No. 105/2012/ND-CP dated December 17, 2012, the People's Committee of Hanoi City requests: All agencies and offices in the city to fly flags at half-mast for two days during the State Funeral (July 25, 2024 and July 26, 2024).

Many agencies, offices, residential areas, historical sites, and shopping centers in Hanoi flew flags at half-mast to commemorate General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong before the national mourning period on July 25th and 26th (photo: Nam Nguyen).
A flag at half-mast is the national flag, with a mourning band (measuring 1/10 the width of the flag, with a length equal to the length of the flag, and the flag is only hoisted to 2/3 the height of the flagpole, secured with a black cloth band to prevent it from flying freely).
At the same time, the Hanoi People's Committee requested that organizations, individuals, and entertainment establishments stop or postpone the organization of art programs, sports competitions, and entertainment activities in the city during the two days of the National Mourning./.
