Thanh Tung Market is located along the riverbank, the whole area has about 60 kiosks of small traders selling many products. In the market, many families of small traders have built houses to live. Most of the houses are made of wood so they are easy to catch fire, making it difficult to put out the fire.

By nearly 2 p.m. the same day, the fire was under control. However, up to 56 kiosks of 25 businesses in Thanh Tung market were burned down; property damage has not yet been estimated. Fortunately, there were no casualties. Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province Pham Thanh Ngai and Colonel Ho Viet Trieu, Director of the Provincial Police Department, are present at the scene, directing the fire response.

Mr. Mai Viet Trieu, Chairman of Thanh Tung Commune People's Committee, said that according to information reported by local people, a household in the market area had a conflict with his wife and used a knife to slash his wife, causing injuries. When neighbors took his wife to the emergency room, the man set fire to his house. Fortunately, he was taken out before the fire broke out and spread to other kiosks.

"Currently, the Investigation Police Department of Ca Mau Province is verifying and clarifying the case," said Mr. Trieu.
