Ly Tu Trong's real name is Le Huu Trong, born on October 20, 10 in May village, Nakhon Phanom province, Thailand. He is the son of Mr. Le Khoan (aka Le Huu Dat), from Viet Xuyen village (now Viet Tien commune), Thach Ha district, Ha Tinh province and Mr. Nguyen Thi Som, from Can Loc district, Ha Tinh province. While studying in Guangzhou (China), Uncle Ho changed Le Huu Trong's name to Ly Tu Trong (same surname as Ly Thuy, Nguyen Ai Quoc's secret name at that time).
In 1923, at only 10 years old, Ly Tu Trong went to China to study and work in the Comrades' Revolutionary Youth Association. In 1926, he returned home to work with the task of establishing the Indochina Communist Youth Union and acting as a liaison for the Cochinchina Regional Party Committee with the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Immediately after its establishment, the Indochina Communist Youth Union developed many union members during the revolutionary climax of 1930 - 1931, culminating in the Nghe Tinh Soviet Union.
From the revolutionary movement of this period, many examples of heroic fighting by young people appeared, typically the communist youth unionist Ly Tu Trong with his famous statement before the enemy court: "The path of the youth." There can only be a revolutionary path, there can be no other path."
History records that hero Ly Tu Trong was the first union member to fall for the revolutionary cause. -
