Google's support page shows that users in Vietnam will also be able to use this feature. Dark web management used to be a paid feature, only available to users who signed up for a Google One membership. The dark web reporting feature uses algorithms to scan digital links, thereby determining whether users' personal information has been leaked or not, and then removing results containing personal information from search results. This data includes information such as names, addresses, phone numbers and email accounts.

According to Google, this feature will be placed on the “Results about you” page when users access the address myactivity.google.com. This is a useful feature to have, especially when users have been victims of hacks, information leaks or identity theft. At the end of March, 7.6 million customers of the US mobile network AT&T had their information leaked on the dark web, forcing the telecommunications giant to reset all users’ passwords. AT&T said the leaked data was from around 2019 or earlier, including personal information such as names, home addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth and social security numbers. The data set did not contain personal financial information or call history. Affected users have received emails from AT&T offering to reset their account security, monitor their activity and credit reports. However, the US network has not yet been able to determine the source of the data leak. Other Internet services such as Proton Mail and LastPass have also been equipped with dark web monitoring features to identify leaked user information and passwords.
