After Typhoon Yagi swept through the North, volunteer groups on social networks discussed plans to support heavily affected areas such as Quang Ninh, Hai Phong , etc.
More heartwarmingly, the pioneering groups are all in the Central region such as Quang Binh , Hue, Da Nang...
In many conversations with Thanh Nien reporters, representatives of the groups said that during the historic storms and floods that hit the Central region, they and their fellow countrymen received a lot of help from people across the country. So right now, everyone is restless, eager to set off soon to help the people of the North overcome the damage caused by the storm.

PUN75 group members have prepared necessary items to get ready for the trip.
Ready to go
At noon on September 8, the PUN75 Rapid Response Team led by Nguyen Dinh Anh Khoa wanted to send 100 volunteers to the North to support people after the storm.
Mr. Khoa said: “Learning from the experience of the storms and floods that caused great damage in Hue , when the support team from the North and South arrived, the local forces had almost finished cleaning up. Therefore, although we really wanted to go to the North to support immediately, the group still waited to inquire about the situation, from there we could make a suitable plan.”
After receiving information that Quang Ninh and Hai Phong were "devastated after the storm", and were in dire need of a large workforce to rebuild houses, clean up streets, especially schools... the group decided to set off.
“This afternoon, I and some members of the group will go to Hai Phong and Quang Ninh for a pre-arrival visit. Vietnam Railways Corporation has supported round-trip tickets for 100 volunteers to go straight to Hai Phong tomorrow with a total cost of 300 million VND. At the same time, the group will also contact and coordinate with the provincial youth unions to support the people in the best way possible,” said Mr. Khoa.
The rapid response association was established during the Covid-19 pandemic and is still operating to support local people.
With the experience of “quick response” from the Covid-19 epidemic, PUN75 has mobilized personnel in the group and volunteers from outside by linking with universities and provincial youth unions. Personal cars are available, group members have prepared chainsaws, gloves, garbage bags, disinfectant sprayers, etc.
Along with moving to the North, the group also mobilized funds from Thua Thien Hue people to contribute to the common fund, then brought them directly to support or transferred them to the accounts of the Fatherland Front of the two neighboring provinces.

Ms. Tra's group rowed a boat to bring necessities from people across the country to people in Quang Binh who were isolated during the great flood, 2021.
In Quang Binh, also in the morning, the volunteer group Tu bi hi xa of Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Tra said that with nearly 10 years of experience supporting people after storms and floods, the group discussed a support plan.
Currently, Ms. Tra is connecting with groups in Quang Ninh and Hai Phong to grasp the situation. “The storm has passed but has not caused flooding or disrupted traffic like in the Central region, so we are not considering donating necessities. The group will mobilize benefactors to support cash and buy corrugated iron roofs for people in the storm-hit areas,” Ms. Tra said.
In Da Nang, Mr. Pham Quoc Huy, head of the Huong Lam Charity and Child Rights Protection Club, is also discussing with members a plan to help people after the storm. Mr. Huy's hometown is in Quang Ninh, and he has been monitoring the situation of Typhoon Yagi over the past few days. After the storm, Mr. Huy contacted the Provincial Child Rights Protection Association and is working on a plan to support people.
'Repaying the debt of gratitude to the people of the whole country'
Meanwhile, a touching story calling for mutual help after super typhoon Yagi on another social network also attracted many people's attention. That is the content of a text message from Ms. Phan Thi Thin posted by FB account Huy Nguyen.
Sharing with Thanh Nien Newspaper, Ms. Thin said that she was born and raised in Cao Quang Commune, Tuyen Hoa District, Quang Binh. This is a mountainous commune, located in the middle of surrounding mountains. Therefore, every year, floods come one after another, sweeping away everything that the people have built.
Of the previous storms and floods, Ms. Thin remembers the time in 2016 the most. At that time, her family was in a difficult situation, the weak house had its roof blown off, unable to withstand the big storm. Meanwhile, she had just given birth to her third child, the family was already in difficulty and was almost exhausted by the storm and flood.
During that extremely difficult time, she felt very lucky to receive help from people in the South and the North with many gifts of essential items. “I received old clothes, rice, money, books for my children and other necessities. I cherished and kept each gift in my heart,” Ms. Thin said emotionally.
At the same time, Ms. Thin was also visited and supported by a delegation from Thanh Nien Newspaper. At that time, Ms. Vu Phuong Thao, former Head of Thanh Nien Newspaper Representative Office - Central Coast region, presented 5 million VND from readers' contributions to Ms. Thin to repair her house whose roof had been blown off. This touched Ms. Thin and she remembers it to this day.

The image of Ms. Thin (in blue shirt) being visited and given money by the delegation of Thanh Nien Newspaper Representative Office - Central Coast region in 2016 is something she will always remember.
“Born in extremely difficult circumstances, I feel the hardships of my fellow countrymen. Since receiving the affection of people from all over the country, my dream of escaping poverty after many years of effort has become a reality. Therefore, I want to do something to repay the debt of gratitude to the people of the whole country. This time, the North is facing a big storm, myself and the people of Cao Quang commune want to send love to the people there,” Ms. Thin shared.
After reading the news about the great damage caused by Typhoon Yagi, Ms. Thin remembered the love of the people with each neatly folded and fragrant clothes in the past. Therefore, she discussed with her husband, Mr. Truong Huy Son, about doing something to help the people in the North.
Mr. Son said that he and his wife are currently waiting for the situation to stabilize, and will help those in difficult areas. He and his wife are ready to leave at any time, and also call on the community of Cao Quang commune, Tuyen Hoa district to join hands to contribute money and materials to help people in the North.
