Woman gets infection after getting dimples at spa

(Dan Tri) - A woman in Thanh Hoa suffered from an infection and abscess after getting dimples at a beauty salon. During the surgery, doctors removed a foreign object, a thread, from the patient's cheek.

On June 2, a representative of Thanh Hoa General Hospital said that the hospital's Center for Cosmetic Surgery and Skin Care successfully treated a female patient who suffered from complications of infection and abscess after undergoing a dimple creation procedure at a spa.

According to the patient, she had previously had dimple surgery at a beauty spa. After the procedure, her left cheek was swollen, painful, and had pus discharge.

The woman returned to the spa for treatment but her condition did not improve. After feeling swelling, pain, pus discharge from her cheek and bad breath, the patient went to the Center for Plastic Surgery and Skin Care for examination and treatment.

Upon examination, the doctor discovered a pus-filled fistula in the cheek mucosa at the dimple site, with a hard mass inside. The patient was diagnosed with chronic inflammation, soft tissue abscess in the left cheek, and a foreign object in the cheek.

The doctors performed surgery to incise the abscess, debride, scrape the inflamed tissue, wash and remove the foreign object, a thread, from the cheek area. The surgery lasted about 15 minutes. After the surgery, the patient was monitored in the post-operative area and discharged the same day.

According to doctors, creating dimples is a common beauty need. However, because of the desire for speed and low cost, many people have entrusted their beauty and health to beauty facilities that do not guarantee quality.

This is a simple procedure but has many potential health risks, so it needs to be performed under sterile conditions.
