(QBĐT) - That is Mr. Phan Xuan Tien, Chairman of the Association for Promotion of Education (AES) of Son Hoa commune (Tuyen Hoa), a retired official ofthe Education sector. In particular, with his trusted positions, he has mobilized and called for support of hundreds of millions of VND to award scholarships to poor and disadvantaged students..., actively contributing to promoting the movement of science and talent promotion (KT) in the area to develop more and more.

Although he is retired, Mr. Phan Xuan Tien is busier with work because he participates in social activities and is passionate about science and technology. He always worries about how to help poor students and those with difficult circumstances in the area to "go to school", opening up opportunities to access knowledge and rise up to live a useful life in society. Therefore, it is not difficult for people to trust and elect him as Chairman of the Commune Science Association and Chairman of the Commune Former Teachers Association. He is also the Deputy Head of the Phan Family Science Committee in Son Hoa Commune.

Talking to us, Chairman of the Science and Technology Association of Tuyen Hoa district Nguyen Duc Khanh said: Over the past 10 years, with the role of "locomotive" in science and technology work, Mr. Phan Xuan Tien has always been exemplary, striving to do his job well, making an important contribution to science and technology activities and building a learning society (XHHT) of Son Hoa commune.

Mr. Phan Xuan Tien and the Executive Board of the Commune Science Association regularly take care of building and strengthening the association; actively mobilize businesses and individuals to contribute and support the Science Fund with hundreds of millions of VND, award hundreds of scholarships, help poor and disadvantaged students in the area; at the same time, focus on launching emulation movements, registering and building learning families, learning clans, learning communities, learning units in the community, creating favorable conditions for school-age children to study and achieve high results...

Up to now, Son Hoa commune has 10 science and technology branches, 4 family science committees, attracting over 1,000 members to participate in activities (accounting for over 33% of the commune's population). Of which, 875 families (accounting for 77.3%) have achieved the title of learning, 85.7% of family lines have learned, 100% of units have been recognized as "Learning Units".

At the same time, Chairman of the Commune Science Association Phan Xuan Tien and the Executive Board of the Commune Science Association have always actively advised the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the leaders of the Commune People's Committee on many policies on science, technology and building a learning society. Thanks to that, Son Hoa commune is the first unit of Tuyen Hoa district to complete the implementation to all cadres, party members and members of Decision No. 387/QD-TTg, dated March 25, 2022 of the Prime Minister approving the Program "Promoting the lifelong learning movement in families, clans, communities and units for the period 2021-2030" and Decision No. 677/QD-TTg, dated June 3, 2022 approving the Program "Building a model of learning citizens for the period 2021-2030".

With tireless efforts, in recent years, the Science and Technology Association of Son Hoa commune and many branches, cadres and members in the commune have been commended by all levels and sectors for their outstanding achievements in the Science and Technology movement and building a cooperative society.

To be convincing and create a spread for the science and technology movement in the locality, Mr. Tien discussed with his relatives to establish the Science and Technology Committee of the Phan clan and took on the role of deputy head. After 5 years of establishment, the Science and Technology Committee of the Phan clan has mobilized the clan and maintained a Science Fund of over 150 million VND to award descendants on holidays, Tet, and ancestors' death anniversaries. Thanks to doing a good job in science and technology, the Phan clan has promptly encouraged descendants in the clan to win high prizes in competitions for excellent students at all levels and many of them have passed the entrance exams to universities, many adults have taken on leadership positions in agencies and enterprises.
