The person who "ignited" the flame of promoting education.

(QBĐT) - This is Mr. Phan Xuan Tien, Chairman of the Education Promotion Association of Son Hoa commune (Tuyen Hoa district), a retired education official. Notably, in his various positions, he has mobilized and solicited hundreds of millions of dong in donations to provide scholarships for poor and disadvantaged students, actively contributing to the development of the education promotion and talent development movement in the area.

Despite his retirement, Mr. Phan Xuan Tien is even busier than before, participating in social activities and dedicating himself to science and technology. He is always concerned about how to support poor and disadvantaged students in the area to attend school, opening up opportunities to access knowledge and rise to become useful members of society. Therefore, it is not surprising that people trust and elect him as Chairman of the Science Association of the commune and Chairman of the Retired Teachers Association of the commune. He is also the Deputy Head of the Science Committee of the Phan family clan in Son Hoa commune.

Speaking with us, the Chairman of the Science and Technology Association of Tuyen Hoa district, Nguyen Duc Khanh, said: For more than 10 years, as the "leading figure" in science and technology work, Mr. Phan Xuan Tien has always been exemplary and strived to do his job well, making important contributions to science and technology activities and building a learning society in Son Hoa commune.

Mr. Phan Xuan Tien and the Executive Committee of the Science and Technology Association of the commune regularly focus on building and strengthening the association's organization; actively mobilizing businesses and individuals to contribute hundreds of millions of dong to the Science and Technology Fund, awarding hundreds of scholarships to help poor and disadvantaged students in the area; at the same time, they focus on launching emulation movements, registering and building learning families, learning clans, learning communities, and learning units in the residential community, creating favorable conditions for children of school age to achieve high academic results...

To date, Son Hoa commune has 10 branches of the Association for Learning, 4 clan-based learning committees, attracting over 1,000 members (accounting for over 33% of the commune's population). Of these, 875 families (77.3%) have achieved the title of "Learning Family," 85.7% of clans are recognized as "Learning Clans," and 100% of units have been recognized as "Learning Units."

At the same time, the Chairman of the Science Association of Son Hoa commune, Phan Xuan Tien, and the Executive Committee of the Science Association of Son Hoa commune have always actively advised the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the leaders of the People's Committee of the commune on many policies regarding science, technology, and building a learning society. Thanks to this, Son Hoa commune is the first unit in Tuyen Hoa district to complete the implementation of Decision No. 387/QD-TTg, dated March 25, 2022, of the Prime Minister approving the Program "Promoting lifelong learning in families, clans, communities, and units in the period 2021-2030" and Decision No. 677/QD-TTg, dated June 3, 2022, approving the Program "Building a model of learning citizens in the period 2021-2030" to all cadres, Party members, and association members.

Thanks to their tireless efforts over the years, the Science and Technology Association of Son Hoa commune and many branches, officials, and members in the commune have been commended by various levels and sectors for their outstanding achievements in the science and technology movement and in building a learning society.

To gain traction and spread the science and technology movement in the locality, Mr. Tien discussed with his relatives the establishment of the Phan Clan Science and Technology Committee, and he assumed the role of vice-chairman. After 5 years of establishment, the Phan Clan Science and Technology Committee has mobilized the clan and maintained a Science and Technology Fund of over 150 million VND to reward descendants during holidays, Tet (Lunar New Year), and ancestral commemoration days. Thanks to the successful implementation of science and technology, the Phan clan has been able to encourage its descendants to win high prizes in academic competitions at all levels, with many children successfully entering universities and many adults holding leadership positions in agencies and businesses.

And a significant factor contributing to success is replicating exemplary models in science and technology work, creating momentum to promote the development of the science and technology movement,” shared Phan Xuan Tien, Chairman of the Science and Technology Association of Son Hoa commune.
