Last weekend, in response to a comment from the audience, musician Nguyen Van Chung had the opportunity to open his heart about the last two verses of the song Mother's Diary , as well as memories of his mother's passing.

Nguyen Van Chung and the final sentence of Mother's Diary

When an audience member asked if the two lines of the song "Mom suddenly woke up, and she saw her child, still as small as an angel. Seeing her child crying, her eyes filled with tears. Thank you for coming to her" implied that the mother was about to die, musician Nguyen Van Chung replied: "That's right, my dear."

He said that when he wrote the song, he was confused about how to end it. Mother's Diary describes the child's growth process through the mother's perspective: from being in the womb, being born, learning to speak, learning to walk, 12 years of school, knowing love, having a home of his own, leaving home to work far away,... so how should the ending be appropriate?

He had read stories about sons who worked far away, and only returned home in haste when their mothers died, but by then it was too late for a final meeting, so they continued to live in regret and torment. But if it ended like that, it would have been too sad, so he had made another choice.

Nguyen Van Chung wrote with inspiration: "In the last moments, the moments of dreamy eyes, hasty breaths, the grown-up, mature child was always there by his mother's side, taking care of her, but she had the illusion that he was still her little child, and she still felt as happy as the first time she saw him. Then she whispered "Thank you for coming to me!", the song ended when she closed her eyes and ended her life diary."

When the song is listened to again, it will become a diary of the life of the child - who will become a mother again, like a cycle of life. Nguyen Van Chung is very pleased and proud of that idea.

'Mom loves you, Chung'

Nguyen Van Chung admitted that the song has another "author", greater than himself.

He said: "The day my mother was about to die. That morning, my mother opened her eyes and saw me kneeling beside the bed. She asked me to lie next to her, she hugged me, scratched my back, scratched my head just like when I was a child. My mother's breathing was very weak, her eyes were also hazy, but her arms still hugged me with all the strength of love.

"I love you, Chung" were the last words my mother said to me. At that moment, I burst into tears like a child, like the child in that song, and my mother smiled just like the song, and she spoke just like the song. It turned out that it wasn't my mother's illusion, but that I had never truly grown up until my mother passed away.

Nguyen Van Chung believes that Mother's Diary "was not written by me, but by my mother, written with the great love she had for me, I was just the one who wrote the words on her behalf."

The musician is happy that the song is loved by many women and mothers. He believes that they love the song because of their great love for their children, as well as his mother's love for him.

The lyrics "There will be someone who loves you more than I love you" is a mother's wish even though it can never happen.
