China's Pipa Garden has been recognized by Guinness as the world's largest hot pot restaurant by its capacity to seat over 5,800 people at once.

Chongqing is famous for its hot pot. There are tens of thousands of restaurants specializing in this spicy dish for tourists to choose from. If you're looking for the most impressive one, Pipa Yuan is the place to go.

Pipa Garden is described as "a giant restaurant perched on a large hill." It was recognized by Guinness World Records as the "World's Largest Hot Pot Restaurant by Table Capacity" in June 2022. Currently, the restaurant has 888 tables (the Chinese favor the lucky number 8) and can serve up to 5,851 people at a time.

Ti Ba Vien spans approximately 3,300 square meters, covering half a hillside in Nan'an district, on the outskirts of the city. Most diners need to be escorted to their tables by staff.

From the parking lot at the foot of the hill, diners have to walk another 30 minutes to reach the restaurant located halfway up. It has a large capacity, but dining there without a reservation is "almost impossible," especially in spring and summer. It attracts not only tourists but also locals. On winter days, the restaurant serves more customers than the population of a small county in China.

Serving thousands of diners, the restaurant cooks several tons of hot pot every day, requiring a large staff. Ti Ba Vien has hundreds of waitstaff, dozens of chefs, dozens of kitchen assistants, and 25 cashiers.

The restaurant is crowded day and night, open from 9 am to midnight. Many tourists prefer to visit in the evening because it's brightly lit. The restaurant is illuminated with thousands of colorful lights stretching across the entire hillside.

The hot pot, the restaurant's signature dish, has received thousands of online reviews praising its "surprisingly delicious" taste. The restaurant's ingredients are described as "fresh and tasty," with "mild seasoning" that isn't too spicy, and the view is beautiful. However, drawbacks include the accessibility time (a 30-minute walk) and long wait times (especially during peak hours).

Chongqing hot pot and Chengdu hot pot are two of the most popular and famous types of hot pot in Sichuan (Chongqing was formerly part of Sichuan Province, and became a centrally administered city in 1997. Chengdu is the provincial capital of Sichuan). Chongqing hot pot, also known as pig stomach hot pot or spicy hot pot, originated in the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty. The main ingredients at that time were animal offal and blood.

Emerging as a shining star in Chinese cuisine in the 19th century, Sichuan hot pot is known for its numbing, spicy, and aromatic flavors. The spiciness is the key element of the dish; the spicier, the better. The broth is typically covered in a vibrant red hue from various chilies and peppercorns.
