This year, the lychee growing area in Luc Ngan district and Chu town reached over 17,500 hectares. With the goal of "bringing the market to the orchards" and "bringing tourists home," travel agencies, cooperatives, and orchard owners have collaborated to develop tours and routes, actively organizing many groups of visitors to experience the atmosphere of the ripening season.

The Giap Son Ecotourism and Agricultural Production Cooperative in Chao village, Giap Son commune (Luc Ngan district) has over 45 hectares of lychee orchards meeting export standards. For many years, it has been a fascinating destination for domestic and international tourists. With investment in infrastructure, this year the Cooperative is partnering with Phuc Lam Trading and Service Company Limited (Hanoi) to organize lychee season tours.
Ms. Truong Thi Bay, Director of the Giap Son Ecotourism Agricultural Production Cooperative, said: “We have renovated the rest huts, the reception and dining areas, the garden access roads, and added more flowers and ornamental plants around… To date, dozens of groups from within and outside the province have come to experience, use the services, and directly purchase products at the garden. We also wholeheartedly act as on-site guides, contributing to increased income and the value of lychees.”
Since the start of the lychee harvest season, the Garden Viet Community Tourism Cooperative in Thanh Hai ward (Chu town) has connected with and organized more than 10 domestic tour groups to visit lychee and grape orchards in the area. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Uyen, Deputy Director of the Cooperative, the experiential tours are organized in a community-based model, with flexible costs ranging from 150,000 to 350,000 VND per person depending on the service and route. Recently, a group of over 40 people from Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, and Hanoi had a day of experience in a lychee orchard in Nam Duong commune.
Mr. Nguyen Van Kiem, a tourist from Quang Ninh province, said: “We recently held a university class reunion combined with exploring the lychee season in Chu town. The hosts were very warm and thoughtful in welcoming our group. Everyone enjoyed learning about the production process, picking ripe lychees to enjoy for free, taking souvenir photos, and buying lychees as gifts for family and friends before leaving.”
According to Ms. Phung Thi Lan, Director of Tru Huu Trade and Tourism Cooperative (Chu town), in addition to domestic tour groups, the cooperative recently welcomed 45 guests from Japan. To ensure everything was well-prepared, the travel agency had previously sent representatives to survey the gardens, restaurants, and book services.
The Luc Ngan and Chu town areas are rich in historical and cultural traditions and beautiful natural landscapes. Local authorities have planned several areas for developing orchard tourism, arranging beautiful and convenient destinations for visitors in the communes and wards of Giap Son, Ho Dap, Tan Son, Tan Moc, Tan Quang (Luc Ngan); Hong Giang, Thanh Hai, Quy Son, Nam Duong (Chu town)... In the lychee orchards of Thanh Hai ward and Quy Son commune (Chu town), visitors can enjoy lunch, camping in tents, fishing, kayaking, and experience making traditional ethnic cakes... During the harvest season, visitors can also experience picking lychees with guidance from local people.
This year, localities have shown much innovation and creativity in organizing media events, creating widespread appeal and attracting the attention of a large number of people and tourists. Luc Ngan district has a lychee tourism program called "The Quintessence of Vietnamese Fruits"; Chu town organizes an agricultural tourism program called "Chu Lychee Season" with a "One Day as a Farmer" tour. In addition, improved facilities for receiving visitors and the proactive efforts of cooperatives in promoting and connecting with travel companies to organize tours and transportation are expected to significantly increase the number of visitors during the lychee season.
