Musical "Chi Pheo's Dream" returns this summer

Premiered in December 2024, the musical “Chi Pheo’s Dream” has made a big splash with audiences, experts and domestic media. This is an international Broadway musical, inspired by the literary work “Chi Pheo” by writer Nam Cao.

Director and musician Duong Cam did not choose the old approach, but together with his collaborator, screenwriter Dinh Tien Dung (GS Xoay), followed a different approach, which was to "sparkle the romantic love story of Chi Pheo and Thi No". From there, through music , choreography, and performing arts, the work tells the old story in a new, attractive, and interesting style.

Music is the soul of “Giác Mơ Chí Phèo”. Musician Dương Cầm composed 19 songs of the musical in just 5 days. The emotions he nurtured before, along with his strength in creating arias, the songs in “Giác Mơ Chí Phèo” through Dương Cầm’s talented hands can still “live” independently later on.

Musician Duong Cam said: “To make the musical, the crew had to prepare for at least 10 years. Because it is a Broadway show, we can freely use all kinds of musical languages such as rock, rap, opera, symphony, and even folk. All the unique features of each musical genre are mixed to create appeal for the audience…”.

Before bringing the play to the public, "Chi Pheo's Dream" participated in the 2024 National Music and Dance Festival and "won big" with 8 awards, including the excellent award for the play and the excellent musician award for musician Duong Cam.

After the performances, clips posted about this musical attracted millions of views on social networks, with young audiences enthusiastically commenting positively. All three official performances were sold out. The work is suitable for many audiences, from the elderly to students and young people.
