However, there are still many bottlenecks and obstacles that require decisive and effective support to help Buon Ma Thuot develop to its full potential.

According to the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City, the city is currently facing many difficulties and obstacles, both objective and subjective, that hinder its development. These include a legal system with many contradictory and overlapping points, not yet suitable for practical requirements. The global security situation is unpredictable, and the security and order situation in the area remains potentially complex in some places and at some times. The prices of raw materials have fluctuated for an extended period, and the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic continue.
Many important infrastructure projects connecting Buon Ma Thuot city with other localities are behind schedule.
The first-time application of specific mechanisms and policies for district-level (city-level) planning has left the city somewhat confused, requiring simultaneous implementation, research, and learning. During the planning process, new factors regarding development orientation and investment attraction for urban development emerged, necessitating localized adjustments and leading to multiple changes in plans, thus delaying progress.
The review and coordination with departments and agencies in proposing the list of zoning plans at a scale of 1/2000 is still slow, and the coordination in inspecting and resolving arising problems is not timely.
There are still many subjective limitations hindering the city's development.
According to the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City, the relationship between the leadership of the Party committee and the management and operation of the government is sometimes not very close or effective. The understanding and application of laws in the implementation of socio-economic development projects are incomplete, leading to confusion and passivity in finding solutions. While there are many leadership and guidance documents, the implementation remains a weak point.
Some officials, Party members, and leaders have not fully fulfilled their responsibilities; in some cases, they lack focus and decisiveness, evade or shirk responsibility, are afraid of confrontation, and are hesitant to embrace innovation...
Mechanisms and policies need to be implemented effectively for Buon Ma Thuot.
In Political Bureau Conclusion No. 67, Government Resolution 103, National Assembly Resolution 72... the key tasks for developing Buon Ma Thuot City into the central urban area of the Central Highlands region and a world-class coffee destination have been clearly outlined.
Buon Ma Thuot city needs more resources to become a world coffee destination.
According to the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City, in order to supplement resources and create conditions for building Buon Ma Thuot City according to the set goals and orientations, the city urgently needs decisive and timely intervention from the Central Government. In particular, the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City requests the Central Government to pay attention to and prioritize the implementation of key projects mentioned in Resolution No. 103, such as the Central Highlands Regional Key Sports Center and the Central Highlands Regional General Hospital.
In addition, attention should be paid to allocating central government budget for the construction of a road connecting the end point of the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway with the East-West Boulevard during the 2026-2030 period. This will increase connectivity and improve the efficient operation of Buon Ma Thuot Airport.
Buon Ma Thuot City proposes early investment in the section connecting the East-West Boulevard to the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway.
Investment will be made in upgrading and expanding the road connecting National Highway 26 - National Highway 14 - Provincial Road 8 - Provincial Road 5 - Provincial Road 1, with a total length of 43.6 km. Four projects connecting Dak Lak province with Gia Lai, Dak Nong, Lam Dong, and Phu Yen provinces will also be constructed with a total investment of approximately 1,700 billion VND… This will complete the transportation infrastructure connecting Buon Ma Thuot with the districts and provinces in the region, contributing to the economic development of the city and the provinces in the area.
Regarding the goal of becoming a world coffee destination, Mr. Vu Van Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City, believes that support from the central government is extremely important and necessary. First and foremost are preferential tax and financial policies to encourage businesses to invest in deep processing technology, increasing the added value of coffee products. Currently, only about 20% of coffee production is deep processed, while the demand for processed coffee is increasing worldwide.
The proportion of coffee that is sorted and further processed is low.
Regarding transportation infrastructure as mentioned above, the city needs central government investment in key transportation routes to help Buon Ma Thuot easily connect with major seaports, creating favorable conditions for coffee exports.
Furthermore, the city needs support in promoting international trade and marketing the Buon Ma Thuot coffee brand to the world. Events such as the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival should involve international organizations and major importers to attract attention from the global market.

Speaking at the recent 120th anniversary celebration of Dak Lak province, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh emphasized that Dak Lak possesses many favorable natural conditions and diverse, abundant natural resources. Dak Lak is a place where many unique aspects of folk culture and customs of the 49 ethnic groups living together converge. Among them, the "Gong Culture Space of the Central Highlands" has been recognized by UNESCO as a masterpiece of oral tradition and intangible cultural heritage of humanity. All of these elements blend together, embodying the thoughts and aspirations for a peaceful life of the simple, free-spirited people.

To achieve sustainable development, befitting its position as the central hub and driving force of the Central Highlands region, the Deputy Prime Minister requested Dak Lak province to continue closely following the directives of the Central Government, concretizing the goals and tasks in the conclusions of the Politburo, and the resolutions of the National Assembly and the Government on the development of Buon Ma Thuot City.
From there, seizing every opportunity, overcoming all difficulties and challenges, and mobilizing the entire political system and the people, we strive to achieve the goal that by 2050, Dak Lak will "become a province with ecological space, unique identity, creative connectivity, a favorite and livable destination"...
