Sitting in his spacious house, still smelling of fresh paint, Mr. Le Thanh Mam, a resident of An Khuong hamlet, Long Kien commune, shared his joy: “My family’s house, built of eucalyptus wood more than 20 years ago, was dilapidated, but I couldn’t afford to repair it. Thanks to the concern of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels and support from businesses, my family has built a new, spacious, and sturdy house, helping us realize our dream of having a stable home and livelihood.”
Mr. Mẫm's family was in difficult circumstances, so when they received 60 million VND in support from a business, and relatives and neighbors contributed an additional 5-10 million VND each, his family was able to build a house worth over 100 million VND. With this warm and supportive home, his family no longer worries during rainy and windy weather, and can work and produce with peace of mind to overcome poverty.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu (64 years old), residing in My Thanh hamlet, Long Kien commune, has no land for farming. Her daughter works as a laborer for a wood company in Ho Chi Minh City, sending money back to support the family and three grandchildren's education. "Our house is dilapidated and leaking, but I can't afford to rebuild or repair it. When I received the financial support for house construction, I was overjoyed," Ms. Thu shared emotionally.
The families of Mr. Mẫm and Mrs. Thu are fortunate to have received support, while elsewhere in the area, there are still families struggling in dilapidated houses, lacking basic necessities. A sturdy roof over their heads is not only a place to shelter from the sun and rain, but also a peaceful haven where everyone can work with peace of mind, nurturing faith and hope for the future. Understanding the difficulties faced by poor and disadvantaged households, An Giang Lottery Company Limited has sponsored 600 million VND to build 10 solidarity houses for families in Long Kiến commune.
These houses were built not only with material things but also embodied the spirit of sharing, responsibility, and warm human kindness within the community. Mr. Bui Van Thum (64 years old), residing in My Long hamlet, Long Kien commune, has been paralyzed by a stroke for the past four years and uses a cane. His wife grows vegetables behind their house, harvesting them daily to sell at the market to cover living expenses. Their children are also poor and cannot offer much help to their parents. Mr. Thum said: “I was so happy to have a new house that I couldn't sleep. The old house was built with wood and leaves, and every time it rained or stormed, the whole family was worried. Hearing that the company was supporting house construction, the neighbors in the hamlet contributed money, helping me build a new, spacious house.”
Supporting the construction of solidarity houses is a meaningful activity of An Giang Lottery Company Limited, carried out for many years, helping households with housing difficulties feel more secure in their lives. Deputy Director of An Giang Lottery Company Limited, Trinh Bao Chau, said: “The company always cares about social welfare through meaningful activities and programs, and supporting the construction of solidarity houses is an activity that demonstrates our humanity. The company hopes to bring joy and motivation to households so they can settle down and prosper.”
According to Ngo Huu Le, Deputy Secretary of the Long Kien Commune Party Committee, the construction of solidarity houses demonstrates the pivotal role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune in mobilizing businesses to care for poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households in the commune. These houses are not only homes but also sources of hope and encouragement, helping households overcome difficulties and achieve stable lives.
