From a model that confirms remarkable progress
In mid-October, perhaps the most talked-about project in the construction industry was Rach Mieu 2. This outstanding cable-stayed bridge project stands out not only for its high level of localization and application of advanced technology, but also for its time, cost, and effort savings, contributing to raising the standard of Vietnamese bridge and road engineering in the region. Even more remarkable is that the Rach Mieu 2 cable-stayed bridge model was showcased and presented by the construction industry at the Exhibition of Scientific , Technological, Innovation and Digital Transformation Achievements 2015-2025, celebrating the First National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, term 2025-2030, held in Hanoi.
Introducing the Rach Mieu 2 cable-stayed bridge model, Mr. Doan Trinh Tung, Director of the National Exhibition Center for Architecture, Planning and Construction, said that the model consists of two main sections: Section one is a 1/700 scale cable-stayed bridge model, showing the main tower, bridge piers, bridge deck, and tension cables made of 0.2 mm diameter elastic thread. The bridge tower is A-shaped, and the stay cables are arranged in a fan-shaped pattern, colored orange, to reflect reality. Section two is a 1/700 scale cable-stayed bridge model, showing the main tower, bridge piers, bridge deck, and tension cables made of 0.2 mm diameter elastic thread. The bridge tower is H-shaped, and the stay cables are arranged in a parallel pattern, using the RAL-702 color code, ensuring accuracy.
According to Mr. Tung, the harmonious combination of modern technology and architectural aesthetics has created a project that exemplifies the aspirations for innovation and creativity, affirming the technological capabilities of Vietnamese engineers and workers in the field of modern construction and transportation.
The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge construction project connecting Tien Giang (now the new Dong Thap province) and Ben Tre (now the new Vinh Long province) has a total investment of VND 6,810.11 billion from the central government budget. The design consultant is a consortium and the Southern Transport Design Consulting Joint Stock Company.
In the report "Recent Development of Cable-Stayed Bridges in Vietnam 2025," representatives from the Transport Engineering Design Consulting Corporation (TEDI), a member of the design consulting consortium, stated that Vietnam has comprehensively mastered the technology for designing, constructing, and operating large-span cable-stayed bridges, meeting international technical standards. Regarding construction, domestic cable-stayed bridge projects have successfully applied balanced cantilever casting technology, controlling deformation and joining with high precision, demonstrating the increasingly solid technical skills of Vietnamese engineers and affirming the remarkable progress of Vietnam's bridge industry in the region and globally.
Notably, the project's practical cost savings and efficiency are evident in many aspects. Thanks to the application of BIM technology and numerical simulation, the design-verification process was shortened by 20-30%, significantly improving productivity and reducing workload. The localization of all stages from design and surveying to construction also yielded clear economic benefits, reducing investment costs by 15-25% compared to hiring foreign consultants.
Recalling nearly three years of working tirelessly on this key national project, racing against the rising water levels of the Tien River every day, Mr. Can Manh Hung, Commander and Director of the Management Board of Trung Nam E&C Construction and Installation Joint Stock Company, shared that the project faced countless difficulties. The most challenging issue was land acquisition, resulting in no access road to the shore for transporting materials. To overcome this, the contractor had to mobilize specialized boats to transport workers, equipment, and materials daily; and arrange construction teams in overlapping shifts to ensure uninterrupted work. In addition, the constantly changing water levels of the Tien River, along with prolonged stormy weather, directly affected the construction process, especially the piers in the middle of the river...
And then, after 29 months of construction, on August 19, 2025, Rach Mieu 2 Bridge - a project bearing the "Made in Vietnam" brand - was officially inaugurated and put into operation, fulfilling the expectations of the people, reducing traffic congestion, shortening travel time, and promoting trade and economic development in the Mekong Delta region.

...To the construction projects that "brave the sun and overcome the rain"
Construction began in 2024, and despite some difficulties regarding land clearance, prolonged rainy and flood weather, and complex geological conditions, the construction pace at the two expressway projects, Huu Nghi-Chi Lang (Lang Son) and Dong Dang (Lang Son)-Tra Linh (Cao Bang), has been maintained continuously, aiming for completion and opening to traffic in 2025.
These two expressway projects play a crucial role in the overall development of transportation infrastructure in the Northeast region in particular and the whole country in general. As the leading unit in the consortium of contractors constructing these important expressways, in early September 2025, Deo Ca Group understood the urgency of accelerating construction progress and bringing the projects into operation as soon as possible. Therefore, the Group and the contractors launched a 100-day emulation campaign to complete the two projects.
Entering the early days of October, the remnants of Typhoon Matmo brought prolonged periods of rain, causing widespread flooding in the provinces of Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, and Lang Son. On the construction sites, major contractors are simultaneously addressing the consequences of the floods and racing against time to complete their set targets. Mr. Pham Duy Hieu, Deputy General Director of Deo Ca Group, shared that currently, nearly 6,000 officials, engineers, and workers, along with 2,600 pieces of equipment, are "braving the sun and rain," accelerating construction progress on the site, with hundreds of construction teams.
"We will focus our resources, overcome the consequences of the floods, and accelerate construction, striving to complete these two important expressway projects within 100 days, expected on December 19th, coinciding with the 79th anniversary of the National Resistance Day and the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam," Mr. Hieu said.
In early October, the project "Upgrading and renovating 20 passenger carriages serving passengers on the Hanoi-Hai Phong route," invested by Vietnam Railways Corporation with a total investment of over 101.4 billion VND, was designated as a project to celebrate the 1st National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, term 2025-2030. It was completed in a very short time (from March 13, 2025 to May 10, 2025), parallel to the planned periodic maintenance, ensuring transportation during the country's major holidays. Speaking at the project's designation ceremony, the Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Members of Vietnam Railways Corporation, Dang Sy Manh, proudly stated that many innovative technical improvements have been applied, contributing to improved product quality, increased labor productivity, reduced time, cost savings, and ensuring safety, quality, aesthetics, and technical standards, all completed on schedule. This project is not merely a technical achievement, but also reflects the close leadership and unwavering determination of the entire Party Committee of the Corporation; the patriotic emulation spirit and the innovation and creativity of the collective of cadres, Party members, and workers in the railway industry.
At the Government Party Congress discussion session on the afternoon of October 12th, proudly mentioning this project once again, Mr. Dang Sy Manh emphasized that, with the motto "high determination, great effort, decisive action, focusing on key priorities, and producing concrete results," the railway industry is determined to strongly innovate its thinking and actions, build and develop a modern system, and bring "Beloved Trains - The Path of Construction" to accompany the whole country in realizing the aspiration of a strong, prosperous, and happy Vietnam. This project is not only a source of pride for the railway industry, but also a shared joy, a testament to the fact that emulation movements linked to political tasks always create sustainable value and contribute to the overall development of the country.
