In addition to combat readiness training and coordinating with other forces to firmly protect border security, these units also effectively carry out search and rescue operations, helping people overcome the consequences of natural disasters and supporting social welfare.

In mid-October, the training ground of the Dak Lak Provincial Military Command in Krong Na commune, Buon Don district, experienced prolonged periods of rain. Corporal Ngo Van Trong and his comrades in the fire support squad of the 2nd Infantry Company used an excavator to dig and build embankments to prevent flooding from overflowing into the trenches and reinforce the foundations of the fixed firing targets. After hours of rain, their bodies were soaked. Corporal Ngo Van Trong stated that he and his comrades are constantly training to improve their political acumen and continue their training to enhance their technical and tactical skills and combat readiness.

Corporal Ngo Van Trong stated: “The company is currently training in squad attack tactics, platoon defense tactics, and company-level attacks to recapture a fort in a simulated scenario. The company trains daily with very high fighting spirit, ready to fight to defend the Fatherland.”

The 2nd Infantry Company was established on January 1, 1991, formerly the 2nd Infantry Company, 697th Battalion, under the Dak Lak Provincial Military Command. As one of two infantry companies of the Provincial Military Command stationed on the border, the 2nd Company is a key infantry unit protecting the border of Ea Sup district. Despite the harsh weather conditions of continuous rain and floods during the rainy season and drought during the dry season in the border area, the company consistently maintains a high level of combat readiness in terms of personnel and equipment. In 2020 and 2023, the company achieved the title of "Unit of Victory," and for many consecutive years has been recognized as a comprehensively strong and clean company. Currently, the officers and soldiers of the company are focusing on training, striving to complete their tasks, and achieving accomplishments in preparation for the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22).

Lieutenant To Viet Sy, the company's political officer, said: "We conducted live-fire exercises with the theme of an infantry company's offensive maneuver. Through this, we built up the spirit, responsibility, and capabilities of our officers and soldiers in the course of combat missions when situations arise."

Established on January 6, 1995, the 5th Infantry Company is tasked with training, maintaining combat readiness, and being ready for A2 missions to protect Buon Don district. Annually, the unit organizes advanced training for new recruits in the province; effectively carries out mass mobilization work, increases production to improve the living standards of the soldiers, and performs other tasks as ordered by superiors.

Lieutenant Nguyen Thanh Phuoc, Political Officer of the 5th Infantry Company, stated that in addition to combat readiness, the 5th Infantry Company also has the responsibility of rescue and relief operations; assisting the local population in effectively disseminating legal information; coordinating with local authorities to build houses and solidarity housing; helping people harvest crops; constructing and clearing roads and irrigation canals; and implementing support for new livestock and crop farming models to help people develop their economy.

Buon Don and Ea Sup are two border districts of Dak Lak province. The entire area has over 11,000 households with more than 25,000 inhabitants, comprising 29 ethnic groups. This is an area with a harsh climate, arid land, and frequent natural disasters. The lives of the people remain difficult and arduous. Elder Y Thung Kdoh in Tri village, Krong Na commune, Buon Don district, said that in recent years, the 5th Infantry Company has been very active in supporting the people with social welfare work and rescue operations whenever natural disasters occur.

Elder Y Thưng Kđoh said: “When natural disasters like floods or storms come, Company 5 always sends officers and soldiers to help the people a lot, such as harvesting rice, repairing houses, relocating people and property to prevent flooding. The comrades also donated cows, goats, and seedlings to support planting coffee, pepper, and fruit trees.”

Having gone through more than a third of a century of building, fighting, and maturing, the infantry companies under the Dak Lak Provincial Military Command are the core force firmly protecting national border security, building a solid foundation of people's support, and are truly steel infantry companies on the Dak Lak border.
