This school year, through their outstanding efforts, two 9th-grade students, Bui Tuong Vi and Nguyen Thao Linh, have consecutively won major awards at the Hanoi International Young Informatics Talent Competition 2025-2026. Their achievements have further enriched the glorious history of the school in the Bat Trang pottery village.
The traditional spirit of learning is being boosted by modern technology.
In the context of the strong digital transformation trend in Hanoi's education sector, fostering technological thinking in students from the junior high school level is a crucial springboard for developing high-quality human resources. Looking at the impressive achievements of Dong Du Junior High School in recent years, many people cannot help but admire the self-learning spirit and sharp thinking of these young students from the area along the Red River.

The first student to make a strong impression at the Hanoi International Young Informatics Talent Competition 2025-2026 is Bui Tuong Vi, a 9th-grade student from Dong Du Secondary School. Possessing sharp logical thinking and rare composure, Tuong Vi excelled, surpassing tens of thousands of students from 1,108 primary, secondary, and high schools to win first prize in the Hanoi International Young Informatics Talent Competition for secondary school students.
This is an academic arena that demands intense time pressure, advanced programming skills, and complex algorithmic thinking. Unlike her peers who had early access to technology, Tuong Vi's skills were largely acquired through persistent self-study and guidance from her teachers.
Not only did Bui Tuong Vi excel in computer science, but she also won first prize in the 9th grade Geography competition at the commune level and second prize at the city level. With these impressive achievements, Bui Tuong Vi was selected by Bat Trang commune as an Outstanding Student of Hanoi for her high academic achievements and participation in various competitions, notably for achieving the title of outstanding student for nine consecutive years.

Not to be outdone, Nguyen Thao Linh, a student in class 9A, exemplifies the model of a well-rounded and dynamic student. Starting with a breakthrough win of first prize in the 9th grade Informatics Olympiad at the commune level, Thao Linh continued to demonstrate her abilities at the Hanoi International Young Informatics Talent Competition 2025-2026, securing third place overall.
The young student's capabilities were further affirmed when Linh ventured into the real world and won third prize in the "Students and Young Entrepreneurs with Startup Ideas" competition at the city level for the 2025-2026 school year. Thao Linh's entry, "a natural food preservation and antibacterial product from Dong Du guava leaves," was highly appreciated by the judging panel for its high applicability in daily life.
Affirming the capabilities of students from the suburbs of Hanoi in the digital age.
Behind the medals and glorious titles lies a long and arduous journey of training by both teachers and students of the school to cultivate social knowledge and shape the character and morality of the students. The success of the students is also the sweet fruit of the tradition of respecting teachers and valuing education, and the diligence and hard work characteristic of the children of this pottery-making region.

Delighted with the students' achievements, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Sinh, Deputy Principal of Dong Du Secondary School, said: "The Hanoi International Young Informatics Talent Competition for the 2025-2026 school year is truly a beneficial playground for students."
The results of the competition are clear evidence of the effectiveness of the modern educational orientation that the Hanoi Education Department is persistently implementing: putting the learner at the center, and using digital transformation, innovation, and the development of digital skills as driving forces for development.
Dong Du Secondary School is honored to have contributed to the overall achievement of the competition. This is the result of the hard work and efforts of the school's Board of Directors and especially Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Nguyet, the IT teacher, who has been dedicated and active in training and preparing students for the competition.
“We also hope that, through this competition, students will gain access to international digital competency standards from the secondary school level; and at the same time, have the opportunity to become familiar with the international certification system that is widely used in learning and recruitment globally. The synchronized implementation of international competition content also contributes to helping Hanoi students get closer to global technology standards,” emphasized teacher Nguyen Thi Kim Sinh.
Sharing her thoughts about her young student who just emerged from the youth informatics competition, teacher Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, homeroom teacher of class 9C, emotionally said: “In class, Tuong Vi is a diligent, hardworking, well-behaved, and respectful girl, always friendly with her classmates. She excels in all subjects and is always ready to tutor those who are slower learners. Despite winning a major award in this extremely important competition, Tuong Vi remains humble, polite, and filial. Every day, seeing her diligently studying after school, we understand that no glory comes naturally; everything is earned through hard work and self-discipline.”
Speaking about the achievements of her young student Nguyen Thao Linh, teacher Nguyen Thuy Ha, homeroom teacher of class 9A, proudly praised her student's dynamism and innovative thinking: "Thao Linh possesses an amazing source of positive energy. Not only is she well-behaved and exemplary in extracurricular activities, but she also has excellent organizational and teamwork skills. When Linh participated in the city-level entrepreneurship competition, I saw in her the image of a future global citizen: proactive, confident, yet deeply respectful of her teachers and filial to her parents. It is this strong moral foundation that has helped her progress so far and so steadily."
It is evident that the success of Bui Tuong Vi and Nguyen Thao Linh is the result of a well-planned investment strategy in advanced education at Dong Du Secondary School in particular and Bat Trang commune in general. For many years, the school has consistently organized excellent student competitions at all levels, built a creative academic environment, and fostered a passion for science among its students.
Regarding the teaching and learning activities at the school, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, Principal of Dong Du Secondary School, affirmed: “The school always identifies gifted education as the leading arrow to improve overall quality. The outstanding achievements of Bui Tuong Vi and Nguyen Thao Linh are vivid evidence of this correct direction. We do not chase after superficial achievements but focus on discovering and nurturing talents while simultaneously cultivating moral character. The timely support, both material and spiritual, from the Bat Trang Commune People's Committee is a solid foundation for teachers and students to confidently strive for excellence in teaching and learning.”
Thanks to outstanding achievements and a widespread development of the informatics education movement, Dong Du Secondary School and the People's Committee of Bat Trang Commune were recently honored with awards from various levels of government for their excellent performance in the Hanoi International Young Informatics Talent Competition for the 2025-2026 school year. This is a well-deserved reward, recognizing the strong transformation of a suburban school where the traditional spirit of learning is boosted by modern technology.
The awards received by Bui Tuong Vi and Nguyen Thao Linh have transcended the boundaries of ordinary certificates of merit. They are a powerful affirmation of the inner strength of students from the outskirts of Hanoi in the digital age. These fragrant blossoms are daily beautifying their hometown of Bat Trang, becoming a source of inspiration that motivates the younger generation of Hanoi to continue striving, cultivating virtue, and honing their talents to contribute to the country.
