The "special messengers" of Ea M'Droh

Thanks to their unity and trust in the Party's policies, the lives of ethnic minority people in Ea M'Droh commune are changing.

Besides effectively implementing all the policies and laws of the State, the pioneering role of influential figures in the community has become a positive factor, contributing to strengthening trust and promoting sustainable development in this region.

Ea M'Droh commune was established by merging the former three communes of Quang Hiep, Ea M'Droh, and Ea M'nang. After the merger, 23 ethnic groups live together in the commune, with ethnic minorities accounting for nearly 37%.

Party and State support programs, such as the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction and the Socio -Economic Development Program for Ethnic Minority Areas, are creating significant changes in Ea M'Droh. However, differences in culture, language, and farming practices remain major barriers, making it difficult to disseminate policies and laws or apply new scientific and technical advancements.

In this unique context, for economic development policies and laws to truly be implemented and reach the people, a special "bridge" is required. With 19 influential individuals, Ea M'Droh commune has found an effective "extended arm" of the Party and State, playing a key role in mobilizing the people to develop the economy and strictly abide by the law.

In Hiep Thanh Village, Mr. Nong Van Chung (of the Nung ethnic group), a respected figure in the community, has clearly demonstrated his leadership role. Revered by the villagers as a respected leader, he has overcome difficulties, always closely monitoring and working alongside the village's self-governing committee to understand the situation of each household, encouraging people to switch to suitable crops, and applying advanced techniques to farming and livestock raising.

In Hiep Thanh Village, the leadership role of Mr. Nong Van Chung (of the Nung ethnic group) – one of the respected figures in the community – has been clearly demonstrated. Mr. Chung, undeterred by difficulties, has always been closely involved and supportive of the village's self-governing committee to understand the situation of each household. This close relationship has enabled him to effectively encourage people to switch to suitable crops that match the soil conditions; and to apply advanced techniques in farming and livestock raising.

As a result, economic development policies and initiatives quickly transformed into effective business models right in Hiep Thanh village.

Currently, the village has 281 households, of which ethnic minorities account for over 82%, mainly Tay and Nung people. Previously, the villagers' livelihoods depended solely on cultivating corn on their fields and growing cashew nuts, but now they have learned to grow coffee, pepper, durian, and raise livestock to increase their income.

The goat farming model of Mr. Ha Van Thien in Hiep Thanh village has proven effective.

The family of Mr. Ha Van Thien (of the Nung ethnic group) is a prime example of this successful transformation. Originally a household solely focused on coffee cultivation with unstable income, more than five years ago, thanks to the encouragement and close guidance of the government and directly from the respected villager Nong Van Chung, Mr. Thien boldly changed his mindset and invested in barns to raise goats.

Through diligent research, the application of new techniques in livestock farming, and the utilization of readily available local feed sources, Mr. Thien's goat herd has grown remarkably. At its peak, his family maintained a herd of over 70 goats, providing a good and stable income, helping the family escape poverty sustainably.

Not content with just livestock farming, to optimize land use and diversify income sources, Mr. Thien also planted passion fruit. The flexible combination of coffee cultivation, passion fruit farming, and goat farming has not only significantly increased his family's income but has also become a model for other villagers to learn from and emulate, creating a strong impetus for the overall economic development of Hiep Thanh village.

Not only are they "leading figures" in the economic development movement, but influential people in Ea M'Droh commune also shoulder an equally important mission: to disseminate and popularize the policies and laws of the Party and the State.

In Hamlet 6, where over 73% of the population are Dao, Tay, and Nung ethnic minorities, disseminating and enforcing the law is even more challenging. With a deep understanding of community psychology, Mr. Tang Tang San (of the Dao ethnic group) – a respected figure – has effectively communicated state policies and laws in an easy-to-understand and simple way, linking them to the practical interests of the people. He also resolves minor conflicts within the community, encourages young people not to be misled by bad influences, and resolutely combats social evils.

Thanks to the voice and exemplary conduct of Mr. Tang Tang San, awareness of law compliance, especially regulations on maintaining security and order and preventing social evils in Hamlet 6, has significantly improved. He is a shining example of transforming dry laws into ethical standards and behaviors that the community voluntarily follows.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hong, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Ea M'Droh commune, said that thanks to the voices of influential people, the policies of the Party and State are disseminated and deeply ingrained, helping people to confidently develop the economy, stabilize their lives, and work together to build their villages and hamlets.
