Bustling streets at night

Strategically located at the beginning of the Dragon Bridge, adjacent to many attractive nighttime cultural experiences, Son Tra Night Market is increasingly attracting a large number of domestic and international tourists. On weekends, the atmosphere at the market becomes even more lively, bustling with tourists from countries such as South Korea, China, and India coming to experience it.

With over 300 stalls, Son Tra Night Market offers a variety of shopping areas selling diverse products such as handicrafts, conical hats, lanterns, clothing, dried seafood, and souvenirs featuring images of the Dragon Bridge or Hoi An Ancient Town. The food court is particularly attractive with many local specialties and characteristic OCOP products of Da Nang.

Ms. Hua Thi Chin (a small business owner at Son Tra night market) said that since moving to the new location (August 2025), the kiosks have been fixed, giving small business owners more space to display their goods and increasing their attractiveness to tourists.

According to statistics from DHTC Multi-Purpose Joint Stock Company, the organizer of Son Tra night market, after 6 months of operation, it attracts an average of 5,000 - 6,000 visitors per night; on weekends and especially during the recent April 30th & May 1st holidays, it reached around 10,000 visitors per night.

Along the coastline from My Khe, My An, Non Nuoc..., the highlight is the An Thuong tourist area, which concentrates hundreds of accommodations, restaurants, bars, and entertainment services. Here, visitors can enjoy Asian and European cuisine, immerse themselves in street music , or simply sit amidst the vibrant nighttime seascape.

Andy, a tourist from Germany, shared that he had spent two weeks experiencing the culture and cuisine of Da Nang . He found the most enjoyable aspects to be Da Nang's beautiful beaches and vibrant nightlife, comparable to other major cities in the region. "It was a fantastic experience on An Thuong Street. I love Da Nang and will definitely return," Andy said.

Not only the east bank, but also the central streets on the west bank of the Han River are bustling at night. Many large shopping malls, entertainment centers such as Helio Center, Lotte Mart Da Nang, B'Fair night market, along with a system of restaurants, hotels, cafes and modern service complexes, attract a large number of tourists, especially young people.

In particular, the Bach Dang pedestrian street along the Han River is a prominent highlight of Da Nang's urban tourism, with its modern open space and a series of vibrant and regularly held cultural, artistic, entertainment, and business activities.

Building a nocturnal ecosystem

To gradually expand internationally and develop a well-structured night-time economic ecosystem, relevant agencies and businesses in the area are making efforts to implement various solutions.

Mr. Do Ngoc Thi Ca, Director of DHTC Da Nang Joint Stock Company, said that the company plans to coordinate with the People's Committee of An Hai ward and relevant departments and agencies to organize many activities and events here such as: Ngoc Linh ginseng festival, ginseng on the streets, street festival… The company will cooperate with travel companies to promote and bring tourists to the night market, especially during the upcoming fireworks festival.

“Alongside trading activities, the management and development of a civilized tourism environment are also emphasized. The market management board regularly organizes training programs on civilized commerce, ensuring food safety, maintaining environmental hygiene, and improving customer service skills. Business owners are also increasingly raising their sense of responsibility, not only introducing local products but also building a friendly and hospitable image,” Mr. Ca said.

Local authorities are actively and decisively focusing on key areas, gradually shaping and developing night-time tourism products. According to Nguyen Hoa, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ngu Hanh Son Ward, since 2018, the city has implemented a project to upgrade the An Thuong neighborhood with a budget of nearly 60 billion VND. By 2025, Da Nang will continue to invest nearly 105 billion VND to expand phase 2, building a central square, an outdoor stage, a musical fountain, and bustling coastal pedestrian streets.

"The locality will strengthen and expand nighttime entertainment and recreation spaces, forming a continuous tourism chain from the coastal strip to Chau Thi Vinh Te road, creating conditions for the comprehensive development of the night economy in the area," Mr. Hoa said.

Similarly, in its night-time economic development plan, Hoa Cuong ward will create a dining, shopping, and pedestrian area along the west bank of the Han River (from Dragon Bridge to Nguyen Van Troi Bridge), based on upgrading Bach Dang pedestrian street and developing high-quality dining and shopping services on nearby streets.

The plan involves creating an entertainment area (bars, pubs, karaoke, etc.) at the foot of the Tran Thi Ly bridge, along the extended Bach Dang road and the wedding reception area, connecting with the Danang Downtown high-end cultural, entertainment, and commercial park, forming a vibrant nightlife entertainment destination.

Simultaneously, using Nai Nam communal house as the centerpiece for organizing nighttime folk cultural activities, connecting with Lotte Mart supermarket, B.Fair night market, and Metiz cinema, creates a cultural highlight at night combining shopping, dining, and movie watching... for young people and tourists. “These three spaces are designed to complement each other, forming a well-structured and organized nighttime economic ecosystem that both promotes local cultural identity and meets modern entertainment, leisure, and consumption trends,” shared Truong Thanh Dung, Chairman of the Hoa Cuong Ward People's Committee.

Following the merger, Da Nang's night tourism has even greater opportunities for in-depth development as it connects with Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary. On one side is a modern, vibrant urban space; on the other are unique cultural and historical values, creating an attractive regional tourism product chain.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the list of projects and tasks for socio-economic development in 2026, approved by the City People's Committee at the end of April, includes many projects related to tourism development.

In particular, the plan for developing the night-time economy in Da Nang city until 2030 is seen as an opportunity for the tourism industry to review and build a comprehensive strategy for developing the city's night-time economy; making tourism a truly leading economic sector, contributing positively to the socio-economic development of the city.
