What does the upgraded Nissan Teana 2026 have to "threaten" the Toyota Camry?

The D-size sedan - Nissan Teana 2026 will officially be sold in the Chinese market in the fourth quarter of this year under the name Teana Plus.

Not long ago, the first images of the new version of Nissan Teana appeared on the website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. On August 18, 2025, the Dongfeng Nissan joint venture responsible for producing this D-class sedan released official images of the new Teana for the Chinese market.

The new version of this Japanese car model is called Nissan Teana Plus 2026. Expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of this year, this model has an improved exterior and interior design compared to before.

As shown in the previous images, the Nissan Teana Plus uses an electric car design language, clearly shown in the front of the car. Here, the car is equipped with a wider V-Motion grille, darker LED headlights and new LED daytime running lights. The area on both sides of the grille is decorated with new chrome strips.

Next up is a revised front bumper with larger air intakes, reminiscent of new Nissan models like the N6 and N7. These changes help create visual uniformity across the Nissan lineup.

Moving to the side, we will see the only change is the rim. Depending on the version, the car will use 17-inch or 19-inch rims with multi-spoke design and 2-color scratched.

Behind the new generation Nissan Teana Plus sedan for the Chinese market, there is a new LED taillight cluster that is deeply embedded in the trunk door, reminiscent of a Nissan luxury car. The exterior of the car has an additional two-tone color option in the style of luxury cars such as Rolls-Royce, Bentley or Maybach.

The trunk door does not come with the company logo but integrates the illuminated "Nissan" lettering. The trunk lid and rear bumper have been streamlined in design while the exhaust pipe has been hidden, giving a neat look when viewed from behind. Thanks to the new design details, the overall length of the Nissan Teana Plus has increased by 14 mm, reaching 4,920 mm.

Meanwhile, the wheelbase remains the same at 2,825 mm. The interior images of this model have not been released yet. It is expected that the car will be refreshed on the dashboard with a digital clock and a larger central touch screen.

Under the hood of the Nissan Teana Plus is expected to be two engine options. The first is a new engine for the standard version, producing a maximum capacity of 142 horsepower.

The second is a 2.0L, turbocharged, 4-cylinder gasoline engine, with a maximum capacity of 240 horsepower. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via an Xtronic CVT automatic transmission with 8 simulated speeds.

The selling price of Nissan Teana Plus in the Chinese market has not yet been announced. Meanwhile, the old version of the car is currently being sold for 179,800 - 239,800 yuan (629 - 839 million VND). The car will continue to compete with Honda Accord and Toyota Camry in the billion-people market.
