In early December, the learning atmosphere at the teams was tense but full of excitement. Unlike regular school hours, the training sessions for the National Team took place with higher intensity and more depth.

The teams are diligently preparing for the National Excellent Student Exam.

Every day, students have to solve difficult problems, in-depth essays, requiring solid background knowledge and creative critical thinking. Each student in the team understands that this is the time to focus the most, systematize knowledge, and fill in gaps with perseverance, effort, accumulation, and training over many years of study.

As the only female member of the Math team, Do Ha Linh - valedictorian of the Math class and also valedictorian of Nguyen Tat Thanh High School for the Gifted in the 2023-2024 school year - has been studying in the team since grade 10. Last school year, Linh won the National Third Prize in Math, and she aims to increase her prize in this year's exam.

At present, Ha Linh and the members of the Math team are spending most of their time solving mock exams, simulating the National exam with strict time and pressure. The perseverance and determination of each member has become a common source of motivation for the whole team to strive together.

Ha Linh shared: "We study not only for personal achievements, but also for the pride of the school, family and more importantly, we want to overcome our own limits to conquer higher goals."

Sharing the same opinion, Nguyen Anh Thu - grade 12 Literature major said: "Studying for the National Team is a very difficult journey, requiring almost absolute concentration. After regular school hours, there are intensive review sessions, self-study, self-researching documents, with almost no time for myself. In the upcoming exam, I and my teammates will try with the highest determination to achieve results worthy of the efforts over the past time."

To achieve the expected results, in addition to the students' efforts, we must mention the constant dedication of the teaching staff. They are the ones who have devoted all their heart and time to accompany the students, not only imparting knowledge but also instilling passion.

With more than 10 years of experience teaching the National Team, teacher Do Le Nam understands that, at this stage, maintaining students' mental stability is extremely important. Therefore, he constantly researches and innovates so that class hours are not only review time, but also lively literary and social discussions. Students are encouraged to give their personal perspectives and unique interpretations of current issues.

Teacher Do Le Nam shared: “In the "sprint" stage, we focus on guiding students to have depth of thought, tone and personality in their writing. Teachers in the team will increase thematic dialogue sessions instead of lecturing, focusing on sharpening the writing style by editing each sentence, each opening and closing paragraph. The goal is to help students eliminate as many routines as possible, creating a unique, emotional writing style.”

To prepare for the exam, right after the Department of Education and Training decided to establish a team to participate in the National Excellent Student Exam, the school mobilized all resources, from a team of experienced teachers, the best facilities to intensive training programs with experts in Hanoi and other provinces.

At this stage, students need concentration, encouragement, and support to have the best mindset for the exam.

Teacher Tran Viet Khoa - Vice Principal of Nguyen Tat Thanh High School for the Gifted

In less than a month, 89 "warriors" of Nguyen Tat Thanh High School for the Gifted will officially enter the National Excellent Student Competition with the biggest goal of bringing home prestigious medals, continuing the school's glorious tradition. However, what is more important than achievements is the maturity of the students, because this exam is an opportunity for them to challenge their own limits, creating a solid foundation for their future academic path.
