Building reputation, community-oriented
The school relay program held in Ba Looc village, Dan Hoa commune ended more than a month ago, but in the hearts of every person in the border area, the sincere feelings of receiving the kindness of the Quang Tri Piggy Bank Volunteer Club and other kind-hearted people are still intact.
“The people of Ba Loóc village were very happy to receive more than 200 gifts including national flags, rechargeable lamps, rice, cooking oil, school supplies, candy, milk, etc., with a total value of more than 60 million VND. We thank the young people in the South of Quang Tri for traveling a long distance to come here to support the people with meaningful gifts,” said Mr. Ho Van Vach, Head of Ba Loóc village.
This is also the first journey of the Club to send love to the people in the North of Quang Tri after the two provinces of Quang Binh and Quang Tri merged. In addition, the Club also connected with some individuals to directly visit and support 7 million VND to a poor person in Hoan Lao commune.

According to Mr. Le Quang Hoang, Head of the Quang Tri Piggy Bank Volunteer Club, in 2008, while he was a student, he participated in many forums for Quang Tri people living far from home and had the opportunity to participate in some practical volunteer activities towards his homeland.
“After a while, the activities of those forums faded away, leading to members no longer having the opportunity to connect, and I also lost the opportunity to accompany meaningful activities. Realizing that there were still many difficult circumstances that needed support, I discussed with some young people the idea of establishing a volunteer club to multiply the spirit of "mutual love" and connect with kind hearts. The Quang Tri Piggy Bank Volunteer Club was born from that,” Mr. Hoang shared.
The club was officially established from the enthusiasm of young people in the old communes of Hai Dinh, Dien Sanh, Hai Lang… The club carefully selected members, in which the important criteria were goodwill, enthusiasm and the spirit of not being afraid of difficulties. From 10 initial members, up to now, the club has 50 members of many different ages and professions.
In the early days of operation, due to lack of deep connections, the Club's resources were lacking. The Club's Board of Directors encouraged members to raise piggy banks to raise funds, and at the same time directly mobilized and wrote letters calling on each business and people to support money, goods and labor.
To organize each charity program successfully, Mr. Hoang and the members always build a specific plan, in which they focus on surveying, verifying the right people who need support and understanding their specific needs so that the gifts are given to the right people, promoting effectiveness; implementing transparent revenue and expenditure immediately after each activity. Mr. Hoang himself taught himself to take photos and record clips to spread the most realistic and objective images of the gift-giving journey and send them to sponsors. It is those images and videos that spread good values to many people, attracting them to join the Club to bring joy to difficult lives.

Sow love, reap smiles
Over the past 10 years, the Quang Tri Piggy Bank Volunteer Club has organized many programs to send love and support to hundreds of poor people, creating an impression of timely and effective sharing journeys. The footprints of the Club members have left a deep impression in every remote area of the whole province.
The Club organizes charity programs regularly throughout the year, starting with the program "Spring of Love" to "Support to School", "Support to Highlands", "Mid-Autumn Festival for Children", "Warmth of Winter"... mainly targeting poor children in mountainous areas, lonely elderly people, people with disabilities, orphans, and those with serious illnesses.
Through the successful organization of many charity programs, the Quang Tri Piggy Bank Charity Club has built up prestige and trust, becoming a "bridge" to send love to the community. The amount of money mobilized by the Club has increased sharply over the years. In the past 5 years, the Club has mobilized 500-700 million VND each year. Up to now, after 10 years of operation, the total amount of money mobilized from Club members and charitable organizations and individuals is estimated at more than 3 billion VND.
Ms. Tran Thi Hien, Vice President of the Club shared: “We understand the difficulties and deprivation of the poor, especially ethnic minorities and children in border areas. Therefore, the Club is always trying to find ways to mobilize resources to organize many programs aimed at these subjects.”
Mr. Le Quang Hoang added that, from the results achieved in the past 10 years, the Club will continue to promote and improve the quality of activities, continue to connect with benefactors to create resources and an environment for young people to exchange and contribute to the community. The Club is researching to orient some volunteer activities to more sustainable goals such as helping the poor develop livelihood models; promoting support activities, providing luggage for poor students to go to school.
