The Connecting Heritage – Cultural Heritage for Inclusive Growth project is being implemented by the British Council in Colombia, Kenya and Vietnam, aiming to exploit heritage values to benefit the community.

In Vietnam, the project focuses on little-known or endangered heritage, with the following objectives:

Encourage innovation through digital technology and skills training.

Improving livelihoods for vulnerable communities.

Expanding engagement with heritage through networks, spaces and community activities.

Create an open, sustainable environment through policy dialogue, exemplary economic and management models.

Since 2021, the project has implemented many initiatives such as the Heritage Storytelling Toolkit, the Community Cultural Heritage Challenge, and the Connected Heritage Digital Collection. Thereby, the project continues to affirm its mission of supporting the community in preserving and promoting heritage values in contemporary life.

As a result of this year's "Following the footsteps of community heritage" contest, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to outstanding works:

Gold Prize: "Thanh Y" by the group of authors: Truong Quang Dang Nguyen, Nguyen Quynh Nhu, Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong, Le Hoang Nhi, Nguyen Yen Ny.

Silver Prize: "To he+" by group of authors: Artist Dang Van Hau, Pham Thuy Trang, Ta Tuan Hung.

The 13 finalists were exhibited in the exhibition “Following the footsteps of community heritage”, which took place on September 15-16 at the Hanoi Creative Activities Coordination Center (Hanoi Museum). The exhibition is open free of charge, giving the public the opportunity to experience how young people “breathe life” of heritage into creative products, connecting tradition with contemporary breath.

The competition aims to stimulate the participation of individuals, communities and especially the young generation in the journey of recreating - renewing - spreading cultural heritage. This is not only a design competition but also a journey of creative dialogue, where each idea contributes to enriching the value of heritage in the flow of time.

Cultural heritage, therefore, is not only a mark of the past but also an endless source of inspiration for creation, recreation and connection with today's life. Each product created is a "bridge" connecting generations, bringing heritage more vividly into modern life.
