* In Quynh Luu district, over 600 hectares of corn and various vegetables were flooded due to heavy rain : From the morning of September 25th to 27th, heavy rain occurred in Quynh Luu district, with a measured rainfall of 209.7 mm. According to statistics from the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, 605 hectares of corn and various vegetables were flooded throughout the district, causing damage to people in the communes of Quynh Bang, Quynh Luong, Quynh Minh, Quynh Van, Quynh Yen, Quynh Hau, Quynh Thanh, Quynh Dien, Quynh Tam, etc.; in addition, 50 hectares of first-crop sugarcane in Tan Thang commune were flattened and broken.

Due to the impact of ongoing key construction projects and the fact that the drainage canal system has not been restored in a timely manner, some production areas in the communes of Quynh My, Quynh Lam, Quynh Giang, Quynh Hoa, and Quynh Bang are experiencing localized flooding.

Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Luu District, Nguyen Xuan Dinh, and his delegation conducted on-site inspections of vegetable fields in the coastal area; drainage systems in several communes; breakwaters; and safety measures for fishing vessels at Lach Quen fishing port in Tien Thuy commune.
Given the forecast of continued heavy rainfall, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dinh directed localities to strengthen efforts to clear waterways, remove obstacles and obstructions on the main drainage canals to ensure effective water drainage; implement disaster prevention and control plans according to the "four on-the-spot" principle, especially preparing materials, equipment, and personnel on-site to promptly handle any incidents that may occur due to heavy rain; and promote public awareness campaigns on disaster prevention and control.
Regarding the flooded vegetable and crop areas affected by the ongoing Coastal Road Project, local authorities in the coastal areas continue to request the company to mobilize machinery and personnel to dredge and clear drainage ditches, minimizing crop damage for the people. Concerning boats and ships, they are advising people to anchor at safe distances and equip them with protective gear to prevent damage from large waves…
* Dien Chau: As of the afternoon of September 27th, in Dien Chau district, more than 700 hectares of corn, nearly 100 hectares of peanuts, and 134 hectares of various vegetables have been flooded and damaged; in addition, 42 hectares of brackish water fish and semi-intensive shrimp farming in Dien Van commune have also been affected, with water overflowing the banks and some farming embankments collapsing.
Mr. Tran Van Quy, Deputy Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Dien Chau district, said: "The communes have mobilized people to focus on pushing water hyacinths and garbage flowing from upstream, clearing the canals and ditches to allow water to drain faster. In the affected aquaculture areas, people have used nets to enclose the area and rebuild eroded embankments to prevent fish and shrimp from escaping."

* Hoang Mai Town: Due to heavy rain, some fish ponds belonging to residents in Quynh Di ward are at risk of overflowing, causing damage to aquaculture. Residents have used nets to prevent fish from escaping. In Quynh Lien commune, Mr. Ho Ngoc Tang - Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune - said: This year's winter crop, the commune planted 351 hectares of various vegetables; due to heavy rain, many areas of crops that were ready for harvest, such as onions, gourds, various vegetables, and radishes, were flooded, causing damage; heavy rain also damaged some newly planted carrots, onions, and chayote.
Local authorities are currently coordinating with farmers to clear waterways, pump water out of fields, and harvest crops that are still viable, in order to salvage and minimize losses caused by the floods.
Due to the influence of the tropical convergence zone connected to the center of the low-pressure area, followed by a tropical depression operating over the sea, heavy rain, and in some places exceptionally heavy rain, occurred during the night of September 26th and the morning of September 27th. Rainfall measured from 7:00 AM on September 25th to 27th ranged from 100 to 320 mm, with some areas exceeding 350 mm, such as Quy Chau (384 mm) and Do Luong (352 mm).

According to preliminary reports from the People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities, by the afternoon of September 27th, heavy rains had flooded and flattened over 6,777 hectares of crops. This included: 1,745 hectares of rice (mainly in the districts of Que Phong 728 ha, Quy Chau 427 ha, Nghia Dan 374 ha…); over 3,127 hectares of corn, peanuts, and various vegetables (Dien Chau 978 ha, Anh Son 316 ha, Yen Thanh 170 ha…); and over 1,900 hectares of fruit trees and industrial crops, mainly in Nghia Dan, Anh Son, and Quy Chau districts, were also affected.

Currently, localities are focusing on solutions to clear and drain water; harvesting some areas of crops that can be harvested; building embankments to protect aquaculture; in some localities such as Nghi Loc district, people have gone to the fields to harvest rice to reduce damage caused by floods.
