New rural area of Ca Mau, Ngoc Hien district is reaching the finish line, better infrastructure, beautiful hamlets, rich people

Ngoc Hien district is located in the south of Ca Mau province, the southernmost district of Vietnam - is gradually completing the goal of building new rural areas, with the determination of the entire political system, to bring a better life to the people.

Chairman of Ngoc Hien District People's Committee Tran Hoang Lac said that the locality is currently making every effort to reach the new rural district goal in 2025. This is also the Resolution set forth by Ngoc Hien District Party Committee.

"The task is very difficult, but with the determination of the entire political system and the solidarity of the people, it will be an important driving force for the district to achieve the new rural district standards according to the set plan," said Mr. Lac.

Accordingly, up to now, Ngoc Hien has 4 communes meeting NTM standards including Tan An Tay, Tam Giang Tay, Vien An Dong, Tan An. Dat Mui commune alone has met 17/19 NTM commune criteria, Vien An commune has met 16/19 NTM commune criteria, Rach Goc town has met 5/9 civilized urban criteria, and NTM district has met 5/9 criteria.

According to the head of Ngoc Hien district government, the locality is determined to have 100% of communes in the area meet NTM standards in the second quarter; Rach Goc town alone will meet civilized urban standards in May.

"The district is selecting Tan An Tay and Vien An Dong communes as communes that meet the standards of advanced NTM communes. At present, Tan An Tay commune has completed 19/19 criteria of advanced NTM communes, Vien An Dong has achieved 10/19 criteria," added Chairman of Ngoc Hien District People's Committee Tran Hoang Lac.

To have a basis and orientations on the roadmap to complete the criteria of the new rural district, Ngoc Hien invited the Central and Ca Mau Provincial New Rural Construction Coordination Board to the locality, in order to seek guidance on how to do it and how to implement it from professional staff to help the locality come up with a plan, roadmap, and approach suitable to the district's situation.

In addition, to address the criteria of environment, income, and sustainable poverty reduction, Ngoc Hien district has launched the movement "Volunteer Saturday to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas", working with people to clean the environment, sort waste, plant flowers and trees along rural traffic routes to form green-clean-beautiful flower roads.

Thanks to this method, up to now, the communes and towns of Ngoc Hien district have formed at least 2 to 3 green roads, model flower roads, bright-green-clean-beautiful roads...

In poverty reduction work, the district mobilized central and provincial capital and sponsors to build 1,400 houses for poor and near-poor households and policy families. Of which, 1,200 houses are under the New Rural District Construction Program (2021-2025 period); 200 houses are under the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the district.

Mr. Vo Cong Truong - Chairman of Dat Mui Commune People's Committee said that in the work of building a new rural commune, the locality is determined to improve people's lives.

"The good news is that in the field of cultural and spiritual life of the people in the commune, there has been a more positive development compared to before," said Mr. Truong, adding that Dat Mui commune is currently focusing on completing three criteria including traffic , environment and food safety, political system and access to law.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tran Van Dang - Secretary of the Party Committee of Vien An Dong commune said that after being recognized as a new rural commune, Vien An Dong commune was chosen by Ngoc Hien district to continue building an advanced new rural commune, and the commune is determined to concentrate its efforts to implement it.

Local leaders said that Ngoc Hien district has the advantage of receiving support from benefactors in building new rural areas. Up to now, the district has received funding worth more than 200 billion VND from domestic banks, enterprises and corporations.

Especially recently, General Secretary To Lam, during his working trip with Ca Mau province and Ngoc Hien district, also directed the locality to build Ngoc Hien district to soon reach the finish line of a new rural district.

Chairman of Ngoc Hien District People's Committee Tran Hoang Lac said that currently, the approval of the construction of the highway to Dat Mui; the construction of a bridge to Hon Khoai, the formation of the Hon Khoai deep-water port cluster is a potential and advantage for the district to develop tourism, as well as trade activities, exchange of goods, promoting the district's economy to develop widely in the future.

"Along with the investments from the Central Government and Ca Mau province, Ngoc Hien district is determined to soon reach the new rural district finish line according to the expectations of leaders at all levels," Lac said.
